I sit here in France reading this forum for every match day thread. I think Cantankerous provides invaluable updates for us overseas supporters on every match day thread. I'm sorry GGMI that I cannot afford a 14 hour trip to Bristol for every home match but hey I've only been supporting Rovers since 1976. If that now makes me a "plastic" then so be it. Totally agree with francegas. I also find this forum invaluable for the match day updates. without you Gasheads I would have no way of keeping up with Rovers. Great job so keep it going men!! Thanks also to the peeps who add the game highlight videos. UTG

My immediate thoughts upon seeing the line up were that DC was trying to keep it tight and achieve a clean sheet. He's had a bit of stick recently about our defensive performances and after conceding 6 in the last two matches I think he just wanted to staunch the flow. It must give the opposition a lift though to see Taylor left out, hopefully him and Gaffney will start on Tuesday. He's given Ellis quite a few starts recently, is this his last chance before the transfer window in January? To be fair to Harrison he was part of poor line up and probably had our only decent attempt on target during the first half. It was Colkett who had real shocker but he obviously can't play in the "hole". Surely Monty starting on the wing would be more effective than Colkett looking completely lost in an alien role?

We should also have a whip around to buy Francegas a faster donkey.

The stuff Cantankerous provides on match days is superb. Team listings, home and away followings, pics and videos of goals and incidents and current table standings.
I've never seen anything as good on other teams' match day threads.
On behalf of those of us who can't get to many matches for so many reasons, I salute you Cantankerous.

I think colket could play in that role but he needs the ball to feet and we played it out wide most of the game which what was the most frustrating thing for me. Whether we play wide men or not we seem to want to go wide when we have the ball, a lot of the time Easter had to drift wide to give our midfield or fullbacks the option because we just didn't get the ball in to colkets feet. I think Charlie can do a job anywhere in midfield / attacking midfield but we have to give him the ball to feet. Passing it it constantly out wide when your playing a narrow diamond formation is counter productive and that's why we struggled today. If all your players are central then pass the ball through the middle not out wide fffs. I heard people slagging off colket , Sinclair, Boateng today but I honestly think the formation was the problem not the players.

I thought the players worked hard ( apart from Harrison) in a formation that doesn't suit our players and isn't the right formation to play against a side with full backs and wingers. I don't really like the diamond and when I saw three subs coming on I thought DC was going to mix it up a bit but we kept the formation, although it was a bit better we didn't create enough and generally don't create enough when we play so narrow. When we play wingers we are exciting to watch we create chances and we generally pick up better results. When we don't play wingers we are ugly to watch we don't create chances and we generally don't pick up good results. Bodin and monty / Moore need a run in the side and we need to start playing to our strengths. If by January they're not coming up with the goods ( I think they will and I think they're good enough) then we should look to bring in another winger or two and send one or two out on loan. UTG I agree we should use wide players but Moore was poor on Tuesday, Bodin just isn't the player he was last season and Monty is hit and miss. you got to credit MK though - they kept the ball well. We obviously looked better when the 3 amigos came on but we didn't get them on the ball enough / or create chances for them. I was very impressed with our back line today - zero mistakes !! Strange that Roos didn't come for any crosses today !

Colkett wasn't in the game today and when he got the ball he kept playing safe passes - he should've been given more direction to attack their back-line.

After some of the sh1t I've heard shouted at Ellis today I will literally never take any Harrison comments on here seriously ever again.
Ellis's driving header forces a worldy save from the keeper. Bloke in crowd "F**king hell Harrison what the f**k was that"?
Harrison collects the ball in the first third, slips three players to take play into the MK half, is closed down by three red shirts and plays a square pass to a blue and white shirt. Bloke in crowd: "F**king hell Harrison you lazy b*****d".
Sinclair blasts an uncontrollable over-powered pass against Harrison's thigh. Bloke in crowd: "F**king useless Harrison you lazy sh*t".

We're you happy with his contribution today then? Which other player forced a better save from their keeper? Easter header near the end which the keeper produced his best save right down by the post,Ellis header was straight at him unfortunately.
