Not really a surprise. They've got a manager who plays his strongest 11 every week. I'm not having a dig at DC, his record over the last 2 years speaks for itself.....But making 4-5-6 changes every week, is hindering us at the moment. The side he has put out this afternoon is pathetic.Christ that's an over reaction. If Taylor had started instead of Ellis it would be pretty much our strongest team. That formation is absolute bobbins.

Much better second half. Apart from their back 5 they're woeful. We bypassed their midfield so easily at times.

Attendance: 9031 (291 Plastics) "Plastics" the irony 😂😂😂 So after your "bullying" thread you've started to consistently single out one poster? And you try to put yourself forward as a mod?

40% possession at home isn't good.
Starting line up poor.
This Division is there for the taking.
Is there any need for wholesale changes in line up and formation every game?

"Plastics" the irony 😂😂😂 This is all a bit unnecessary. I and I'm sure most of the forum, really appreciate Cantankerous' contributions to these posts. I couldn't give a toss as to whether he is at the game or not. Ligthen up ffs!

I think DC is trying to keep everyone happy. Unless players are genuinely injured, I don't see any positives in making changes to line ups and formation every game. I understand we have a large squad, but making so many changes week in, week out, is not not beneficial Imo.

Fwiw, leave cantankerous alone when I couldn't make matches I heavily relied on his great updates from various outlets all teams need a guy like this. Game today was a quiet first half not much to shout about apart from one decent headed chance ...think it was Harrison. Great changes for the second half with Gaffers immense yet again. I don't want to knock other boys but Gaffney is miles ahead of Harrison in terms of his team play and distribution... MILES! Also Lines the way he gets the ball and drives at teams is invaluable in this league. Thought the MOM could have gone to any of Lockyer, Beard JCS and Leads or even Roos.
Very positive for Tuesday after this. Ref was a Kant if I was hard enough and fast enough I would have got on the pitch and told him what I thought of him.

I sit here in France reading this forum for every match day thread. I think Cantankerous provides invaluable updates for us overseas supporters on every match day thread. I'm sorry GGMI that I cannot afford a 14 hour trip to Bristol for every home match but hey I've only been supporting Rovers since 1976. If that now makes me a "plastic" then so be it.

I thought the players worked hard ( apart from Harrison) in a formation that doesn't suit our players and isn't the right formation to play against a side with full backs and wingers. I don't really like the diamond and when I saw three subs coming on I thought DC was going to mix it up a bit but we kept the formation, although it was a bit better we didn't create enough and generally don't create enough when we play so narrow. When we play wingers we are exciting to watch we create chances and we generally pick up better results. When we don't play wingers we are ugly to watch we don't create chances and we generally don't pick up good results. Bodin and monty / Moore need a run in the side and we need to start playing to our strengths. If by January they're not coming up with the goods ( I think they will and I think they're good enough) then we should look to bring in another winger or two and send one or two out on loan. UTG

I hate that formation too. We looked water poor. I can't keep watching that sh**e every week. DC is successful so I'm not having a pop but surely he can see that's not working and its costing us points.

My immediate thoughts upon seeing the line up were that DC was trying to keep it tight and achieve a clean sheet. He's had a bit of stick recently about our defensive performances and after conceding 6 in the last two matches I think he just wanted to staunch the flow. It must give the opposition a lift though to see Taylor left out, hopefully him and Gaffney will start on Tuesday. He's given Ellis quite a few starts recently, is this his last chance before the transfer window in January?
