Great link I stole from thefishy forum. thesetpieces.com/features/b-teams-jpt/They seem to have just as much if not more of a negative feeling towards this dreadful competition than us Gasheads do. Good on them.

I take it the boycott ends if we actually get to Wembley? Depends if we're playing a proper side or an u-23 to me. I went last night but won't go to any u-23 games.

I take it the boycott ends if we actually get to Wembley? Well we've made the final twice in 30 years so it won't be stopping me making any plans for that weekend. I have of course though booked a hotel in North London for the FA Cup weekend, luckily I got a refund on the hotel I had booked for the League Cup final.

I wasn't no, I've never attended any matches in this competition in any of its forms.
That said, you would expect a strong Rovers side to comfortably turn over a weakened Yeovil team at home with 10 men don't you think?
Or cant we be critical of results now because we have had 2 successive promotions?
In previous years I'd be concerned about not performing in these games as let's face it that could quite easily have been a staring line up in he league under DC. However I've come to realise that I couldn't give a monkeys how we perform in these cup comps anymore. Bath in the FA vase, Trammere in the FA cup (granted wee league 2 but did go down that season), Chesham, Reading u23s and now Yeovil. Has it affected us in the league in the slightest? Quite the opposite under DC it would seem! In fact the only cup wins I think under DC have been Dorchester in FA cup qualifying, Wycombe in the JPT and Cardiff this season. 2 of those 3 against better sides (Wycombe arguably were at that stage of the season.) Seems we have trouble getting ourselves up for the smaller occasions but I for one an more than happy with that if we carry on getting ourselves together for the 46 that matter...

So given the option how would you guys have a cup competition ? As the league cup also gets low crowds could they both get changed into one competition ?
For me I would prefer a regional cup competition ,with a final and a cup. The regional winners then go into a knockout with the other regional winners to find the national champions. All teams from the prem down included. Winners get a euro league place. Teams can field whatever players they wish...be that full strength or U21 s whatever.
Remember the Gloucestershire cup ?.....generally it was BRFC v BCFC in the final.....pretty decent crowds.

The EFL now seemed to have killed off the EFL Trophy, I'm not sure where they now go from here. As far as a Regional cup, you can't get more regional than a Rover v Yeovil game and that match didn't draw the crowds last night. Perhaps when we're in the Championship next season we won't need to worry about what's happening with the EFL Trophy in the future.

Go back to the original format and forget all about this season.

we were poor in the 1st half but very dominant in the 2nd half but it was one of those games where we couldnt force a winner against a packed defence and hard working opponents,as well as some poor decision making by our players. "the players are paid to perform" etc comment was a bit unfair imo as it implied a lack of effort
I'm just going by reports and family that were there. Many have said some players didn't look interested, or treated it as a training game.
Well, I`d say they were absolutely wrong. Some of the players didn`t play well, ( James and Montano were poor, in my opinion ) but nobody gave less than 100%. Second half, we pretty much ran the show, but Yeovil ran themselves into the ground to keep the score level.

Is that all teams have to do then, pack the defence to gain something from the game? Even still, you would have thought against a poor weakened Yeovil team down to 10 men on our home patch we would have done better than 0-0.
just me but after a game i always look for opinions from people who were at the game whether i attended or not as i prefer that. its obviously a poor result but just the result and hearsay dosnt always tell the whole story. when i posted "were you there" it meant exactly that and i suspected you were not.

I liked the old format it's a cup for the lower leagues of course the attendances are going to be low early on. It's a chance to get to Wembley and I've got some great memories of it too. All this talk of something had to be done is bullshit.

Why ask questions you already know the answer to?
So far i've heard reports (from people who were there) ranging from rubbish to "they gave 100%". If they were rubbish and still gave 100% then they are in trouble. Its a results business and that was a poor result however we played. This is as good a chance to get to Wembley as you can get with everyone shithousing it, not that I give a toss about the competition but im sure most would go to Wembley wont they, more than 2000 I would guess?

Some people said they were rubbish, and some people said they gave 100%. Nobody said both.

Apart from a last minute v Cardiff (who probably were even less interested in winning than us) we have generally been poor in cup games under DC, given the size of our sqaud you'd have thought manager & players alike would like a decent cup run to give a few additional players some decent game time. Although when did we last win w/o Lines in the team?

That's my point, 1973 said he only looks for reports from people at the game and my post confirmed that they differ, as they generally seem to do, even amongst fans who watched the same game. One mans crab-like Sinclair is another mans bearded warrior.
Its a results game, we couldn't break down a defensive side with 10 men and faced a goalkeeper who dared to do his job against us. As a contest the result is the only thing that matters and it wasn't a very good one imo, but then again the Chesham and Bath City results haven't done us much harm in recent years.
I'd rather it was scrapped altogether, we have to play a minimum 3 games now rather than the usual 1.
