Team for Sheffield ? Think it's time for a Christmas tree formation with players randomly picked out of a hat, go one nil down then come back to win !

It was going to be a tough week with PVFC,SUFC and NTFC . All up there around and in the playoffs. To start off with 3pts is great and puts BRFC on the edge of the play offs but don't be too disheartened if this time next week rovers are down to 15th or so.

One point off the plays offs after 9 games is a good start. We weren't great today but we grafted and did enough and that is always enough for me. UTG.

Thought we were very narrow and they had control of the game, great cross from brown and header from Ellis and we went in level. Pressed much better second half and Moore made a big difference giving us width, could have and maybe should have made more from our counter attacks, saving my nerves in the final few minutes. Good three points.UTG

Great win today and totally deserved against a niggly and punchless vale side. I thought gaffers hold up play and lay off was superb. He works so hard for the team and just needs a goal. Easter was very deserving of his MOM he is starting to show his real quality atm and looked a class above.
But today I was most impressed with Ellis , not only for his well executed header which was well taken and at such a vital time, but for his pure brutal strength which caused vale constant problems all afternoon. I loved the way he chased down lost causes and especially when he ran from the half way line near the end of the game straight to the corner flag and held off two vale defenders before winning a free kick, he is slowly learning his trade, a year or so ago he would have crossed it without thinking. UTG.

UTG. I dont agree with running it into corner - eventually they lose the ball and the opposition punt the ball forwards.. towards the end of the game today we had a couple of 3 v 2 or 4 v 3 situations where if the players lift their heads up and move the ball on it will lead to a shot at goal - and a chance of game , set and match !

That's the upside of that approach, the downside it is opens the game up and encourages end to end stuff if you don't score. Keeping the ball is the best way of ensuring you see out a game, going in the corner both minimises the risk of losing the ball and slows the game down.

Did anyone else think it was a bit odd to see Easter step up and take that penalty. Usually it almost comes down to fisticuffs between Ellis and Matty to see who will take the thing. With no MT on the pitch Ellis didn't even bat an eyelid when Easter put the ball on the spot.

We are now in a better position at this stage in league one than we were last season in league two. Nothing to be afraid of from what we've seen so far. Tuesday will be a big test, after that i think we will have seen the best the league has to offer.

Thought Hartley was immense today. Didn't see him lose one aerial challenge at the back - even when Vale brought on that huge No. 9.

Well he lost it eventually yes mark..... but he wasted at least two minutes in the process...and running it into the corner and holding on to the ball in injury time is surely the right thing to do.
