I thought everyone had a reasonable game to their limitations, on another night the way we finished we might have got something. But overall I felt we were second best for probably an hour, and even the last 30 mins their defence had us pretty much buttoned up, Bolton were physically stronger ,quicker, closed us down very quickly. They were a very "streetwise" team whereas we were naive, they won so many soft free kicks by guile and the referee fell for it on several occasions, they stopped the game as it suited by doing so. That said I don't think their will be more than four or five teams in this division capable of playing us like that so I still fancy a top half finish, but we do need a couple of players in who have been around the block so to speak.

Yeah, I recall one incident where they gave away a free kick around midfield, and then their guy tried to stop us taking it quickly by just staying in the way. And there was slight handbags. Then the ref turned up, and instead of allowing us to take it quickly, like anyone with any sense of proper football might do, he actually stood on the ball and wouldn't let us take it for ages, while Bolton organised their defence.

Bolton sussed the ref within a few minutes and played him like a fiddle for the rest.
