I thought we fully deserved the win and were the better side from the off, a absolutely perfect and emotional moment with the 24th minutes applause for Joe, fair play to the Oxford fans joining in as well and perfectly finished with a goal at the same time, Oxford stopped clapping pretty quickly then!! I saw Matty T's goal celebration and it looked to me like him and Browner did a handshake and made a big deal of it as if to take the p**s out of what Appleton said about them having shook hands on the deal. As regards the team selection, I love that DC isn't afraid to use every member of his squad and has total faith in whoever he picks, and also goes to show that we have got a decent squad with strength in depth, much better than in recent times. Onwards and upwards. UTG!! Taylor was getting dogs abuse when warming up too. He cupped his ear then Harrison walked over and they both did a staged handshake then trotted off back to the bench. Pretty amusing bants!

Decent performance today, oxford looked a shadow of the team from last year. Clarke pleasantly surprised me in midfield, as did montano who should have been man of the match. Easter looked strong and lively first half and McChrystal looked solid enough. Bodin and gaffney very disappointing for me, gaffney looks unfit and nowhere near as sharp as he needs to be in this league. The Peterborough lad looked promising though. I think oxford will be lower mid table, a much bigger indication of where we'll be in this league will be Bolton on weds. Said the same about Gaffney towards the back end of last season. He can't keep missing absolute gifts.

Gaffney not playing well at the minute. Should probably be resigned to the bench or dropped for a few.
Good showing from O.Clarke who I don't normally rate. That said, one swallow doesn't make w summer.
Harrison was extremely poor in my eyes today, too greedy and finishing is poor - should make more tactical passes. Stop whining about decisions and mistakes and track the bloody ball down when it's an easy win.
Fantastic game from Easter. Should be given a start.
Lines had a decent game but not sure about MOM.
Montano showed what he's worth but needs to work on end product.
Still think Bodin is a quality player but think his form towards end of season has gone to his head. Always one too many touches on the ball - needs to move it on earlier and remember he's playing higher quality players now.
James Clarke has been a great surprise of late and is putting a stamp on his position in the side.

Gaffers is struggling but when he finds his form he will be an asset as he showed last season imo.

Yes james clarke extremely solid and another surprise for me. I think he'll make the right back position his own this season in a 442 formation. Leadbitter has never been the same since his injury.

We have a league cup windfall, let's invest it wisely.

I thought we were okay today, still think we would be found dead out against better opposition - I don't Hinksey Oxford looked that bad in fact I would say they were a footballing side than Scunthorpe.
What we did well today was keep hold of the ball and not look to be so direct and Rush the ball forward, there was actually some build up play. Rushing the ball forward last week is what caught u shout as we're there for taking to on the counter and we nullified that threat today.
Chris Lines, James clarke were my stand out performers today with hey did on the ball. James clarke got a cool head on him which is something I didn't get from last season, never look panicked.
For me our final ball into the box wasn't great, crosses some times didn't be the first man.
All in all deserved 3 points though, hopefully the lads are beginning to feel more settled and the confidence is growing.

I actually thought that Gafneys build up Play was decent , he held it up and kept possession well. Yes he missed a sitter but I get the feeling that once he scores he'll go on a roll again. I'd rather start with Gaf than Ellis although Easter was excellent so I think he may start again Wednesday. Good to have the options, remember when we only had the static beanpole Harrold ?

I agree about Gaffney, his general play isn't bad. He's good at holding the ball up and keeping possession. It is just the lack of goals like you say, and unfortunately strikers will get judged on goals. I think I'd still start him Wednesday.

Would have liked to see MT partner Gaffers for 5 mins or so today, as MT's movement is a different class than Easter's who seemed to have run out of steam after an impressive first half. What I find baffling about Harrison game is the time he takes to think about what he's going to do when he gets the ball passed to him in the middle of pitch, he's not going to a few seconds to stand still in this league, although for me the MT/EH was more impressive/created more chances than the RG/JE one.A Tom Eves type mobile target man would be a good option upfront.
Whilst we dominated play today probably created far more chances Oxford could have still scored 3 or 4 goals with a bit of luck/better finishing, probably the wrong thing to say on here but Mildenhall also had a sound game.

Good result for you boys and girls today, and it looked a decent crowd too? Good to see over 10k
Fair play, I'm sure the cider tasted good in the sun on Gloucester Road afterwards!
What was this thing about Matt T not starting because he was tired? Seems a bit strange so early in the season. But he came on as sub and notched as usual.
Good luck anyway and thanks for sending us to Scunny on a school night!

He played 90 minutes on Saturday, 120 on Thursday and we made 5/6 changes so he wasn't the only one and that's all there is too it.

I think with Harrison he has all the attributes a player could wish for the only thing he lacks is a footballing brain, and thats why imo he takes too long to think about what to do .

I'd normally agree and see past the lack of goals on his behalf but thought gaffney has struggled to do this well the last few games. Not sure he's as fit as we'd like at present. Darrell seemed to lash out at him at one point just before he came off. I'm a fan of his and think he can do well at league one but think a break would do him good, and open up a chance for a player like Luke James who looks as if he can make an impact if given time to bed in.
