I agree there is a lot if rubbish posted on here sometimes, I've just quoted some of it. From what I've read on this thread the people who AREN'T happy with a 3-1 defeat have just agreed with DC that we need 2 or 3 more signings. So 2 questions. Are you happy with a 3-1 defeat because in DC we trust? And do you disagree with DC that we need 2 or 3 more signings? Like I've said already in this thread and others,we play our first two or three games and see where we are and there's time to bring in the players that DC has got lined up if he feels it's right. If he doesn't then we don't. He's the manager not us . We didn't just win back to back promotions on a low budget with a load of pressure to succeed because we were a massive club in non league, Darrell Clarke did. I'm not the manager and neither are you. We support and yes we've all got our opinions but the way I see it is this, If DC started the season with this squad then I'm fine with that , to see how the first couple of games pan out and he'll take it from there improve the squad and yes I trust him to get it right. I'm not saying he will , nothing's certain in football ,it could all go tits up of course it could. Our season in the conference started off terribly and last season wasn't looking to good early on either. I ask you, how did those two seasons end up up for us ? Sorry I obviously made the questions to hard for you. Completely my fault.

It is money orientated and has been a long time....well since good ole Jimmy hill got rid of the wage cap (which in fairness was right at the time) Plenty of smaller less well funded clubs have achieved plenty compared to rich clubs around them (comparatively) look at all the big money and wage signings BCFC have made over the years yet still rovers hounded them doing better at times. It's about finding the right player not the one whose transfer fee makes the headlines. There have been some great players at rovers whose transfer fees didn't make the headlines.....mark Walters was brilliant for rovers for example , those fantastic champions league standard goals at Wembley in 2007 came from free transfer Richard Walker. It's not about impressing the neighbours its about getting the right player be that loan, free transfer or paying a transfer fee. Yeah and Leicester won the premier league last season, Burton won promotion to the championship and we won back to back promotions with a squad that a hell of a lot of our so called knowledgable and loyal support thought were only conference players and would struggle. A football season is one hell of a marathon. agreed, not sure why we've got 10 pages of pointless panic....

I have often wondered about Sinclair's impact. Great bloke though he is, is it coincidence that both last year and the previous year he has had an injury and we have then gone on runs which have led to our promotion? Lawrence, although has a glittering past, is just that I think, past playing at this level. If he isn't good enough for Shrewsbury in this league, (and he is a year older, and somewhat injury prone)what, if any impact is he going to make? I think Mansell has been brilliant for us, and I am an admirer of his, but he is no spring chicken and I think he can at best be relied to shore up a defence late in a game. so, I think we need another midfielder. Meanwhile at the back, I do worry about Mc Crystal at this level, most of the forwards are bloody quick at this level and lets face it, he is not. So another CB for me as well. Also, as you go higher and higher up the leagues you find that the strikers are quicker and MORE ACCURATE in their finishing. I think Taylor will be ok and Gaffney is just lacking confidence, hence why he passed when he could have lashed it. But I would argue that Eliot isn't either quick enough, or accurate enough. Then there are one or two others that will struggle to get a game, Gosling for instance wasn't impressed with him last season and I probably wont be this season either. If he plays of course Having a loyal band of footballers is great, and having a loyal manager is also great, but at the end of the day no one must let their loyalty cloud their vision on what this club has, and what it needs. Eliot who?

Your asking questions like football is a computer game and it's not so those questions are rediculous but I'll give it a try for your sake. Obviously I'm not happy with defeat. It's up to the manager to bring in players not us.

Just got back. Not going to get into whether we need new players or not. DC has said a few will be coming so I'll leave it to him. But we were pretty good up to half way through second half. Hartley played well and with Macca in reserve think we are well covered at centre half. All 3 centre halves played well. SInclair got more into the match as it went on and Ollie C played well IMO. When Lines ran at them they were stretched but he didn't do it enough. 3 5 2 was ok and we might have got a point if we stayed with it but to be fair it's good to go for the win but our midfield was overrun when we went to 442. I came away feeling we'll be ok, Scunthorpe looked pretty ordinary and we contained them well. The most disappointing thing I think was we faced a keeper who most of us remember was c*** 5 years ago and we didn't test him anywhere near enough. He didn't really have a shot to save. They will not hit two more sweetly struck shots this season so I think we were a bit unlucky, think those who are saying we need this and we need that might have a different opinion if they had seen all the performances today. But everyone has an opinion and after a disappointing last 20 minutes the emotions all change from what might have been a brilliant win to a deflating loss. Overall I see it as an opportunity missed to get a point at least. UTG!

Burton bucked the trend. I don't mean big money, just some transfer fees to tempt clubs to sell good players. Honestly thought that would be our stance with a wealthy owner and record number of seas ticks sold. Window not shut yet so there is hope. I've said it before and i'll say it again, there is absolutely NO evidence of wael intending to spend any money. He was sat about 10 metres away from me and seemed happy throughout the match but as a gashead I am sure he was disappointed with the final score. Boyce was also there, perhaps he was giving advice on the late arrival of the new kit!!

I completely accept evolution not revolution but to evolve you need to buy some better players?? Transfer window isn't shut yet mate , DC has said he wants 3-4 players before it shuts , have you missed that comment ?

We have been way behind everyone else in the transfer market this summer which when you think we've just gone up into a higher league is somewhat surprising as we needed to strengthens more than other clubs. Now we are being left fishing in a much smaller pond for the next fortnight, unless we want to pay fees that is! No we haven't. Most of the teams who've signed lots had also released lots so they needed to. We didn't release any so didn't need to recruit large numbers.

I'm struggling to remember a post by chippenhamgas that wasn't some sort of moan about something. Not saying such a post doesn't exist, just seems to be few and far between. Perhaps lighten up a little bit? We've won back-to-back promotions and kept our manager and top scorer over the summer. If that doesn't show ambition beyond anything we've seen here before, then I don't know what will! We don't have to spend millions to show intent, I'd say those 2 signings are already the best we could possibly have made.

First sign of madness is believing players like clarke, gosling and sinclair are league one standard.
