I've said it before and i'll say it again, there is absolutely NO evidence of wael intending to spend any money. Yep, bit odd isnt it. I completely accept evolution not revolution but to evolve you need to buy some better players?? to evolve above league 1 you need a decent ground....
buying players to take us where?

Some of you lot Crack me up. Darrell Clarkes a f**king legend and premature toss offs on here are writing this team off after one game. Those people don't deserve to be called supporters. We were sh** this time last season v Northampton. Supporting is getting behind your club through thick and thin and DC has turned this club around pretty much single handed , he's done that in the face of adversity time and time again and on a shoe string budget. Some of you need to wind your necks in and take a f**king check up from the neck up. This time 2 years ago we were a club in free fall and Clarke has taken it by the bollocks swang it around, spent very little and turned it into a winning club that's won double promotions and kept all our best players and gradually added more quality to it. Today was always going to be a very tough first game, and anyone who demanded we won or "we're just not good enough " needs to have a serious f**king word with themselves. Sometimes it feels like I might as well go and watch those fickle plastic sister shaggers south of the river because I might as well be reading some of this crap. Im guessing u just got home.... let it out, fair play

You also said today's goalscorer was dead. He's only here cos no one else wanted him! No actually plenty of clubs wanted him but a combination of good money and him knowing that he's on to a very good thing with Bristol Rovers was the reason he stayed. I'm quoting him there. He's also the best attaching player we've had in ages and scored today. You must be pleased about that ? Your a Gashead ? Right ?

I completely accept evolution not revolution but to evolve you need to buy some better players?? We still have conference players who over achieved last season. We have enough to stay up, will be a struggle though without the addition of any quality. If we are to progress any further it won't be done without investment.

There's enough about our owner, our manager, and our squad to suggest to me that we're going to be alright. What I hate is knee jerk reactions in a fickle manner. UTG Rovers til I die.

We need to fill in the gaps.

Exactly, nail on head..... i love the togetherness of the lads, the effort they put in and DC is an acceptional coach. But if we are to kick on (top 10 finish) u need to spend a little and i thought conditions were right at the club to do that. Perhaps my shed m8s who dailly wind me up about wael not being a billionaire could be right.

So a championship club was willing to pay £3mil for Kemar Roofe but you don't think any of them were willing to gamble Tyalor on a free?

I agree there is a lot if rubbish posted on here sometimes, I've just quoted some of it. From what I've read on this thread the people who AREN'T happy with a 3-1 defeat have just agreed with DC that we need 2 or 3 more signings. So 2 questions. Are you happy with a 3-1 defeat because in DC we trust? And do you disagree with DC that we need 2 or 3 more signings?

I have often wondered about Sinclair's impact. Great bloke though he is, is it coincidence that both last year and the previous year he has had an injury and we have then gone on runs which have led to our promotion? Lawrence, although has a glittering past, is just that I think, past playing at this level. If he isn't good enough for Shrewsbury in this league, (and he is a year older, and somewhat injury prone)what, if any impact is he going to make? I think Mansell has been brilliant for us, and I am an admirer of his, but he is no spring chicken and I think he can at best be relied to shore up a defence late in a game. so, I think we need another midfielder. Meanwhile at the back, I do worry about Mc Crystal at this level, most of the forwards are bloody quick at this level and lets face it, he is not. So another CB for me as well. Also, as you go higher and higher up the leagues you find that the strikers are quicker and MORE ACCURATE in their finishing. I think Taylor will be ok and Gaffney is just lacking confidence, hence why he passed when he could have lashed it. But I would argue that Eliot isn't either quick enough, or accurate enough. Then there are one or two others that will struggle to get a game, Gosling for instance wasn't impressed with him last season and I probably wont be this season either. If he plays of course
Having a loyal band of footballers is great, and having a loyal manager is also great, but at the end of the day no one must let their loyalty cloud their vision on what this club has, and what it needs.

BRFC have only been champions of league one once ......that was a team of free transfers, home growns and cheap rejects during rovers poorest days as a club. Money does not equal success in football it helps but it guarantees nothing. And 25yrs on football is completely money orientated unfortunately It is money orientated and has been a long time....well since good ole Jimmy hill got rid of the wage cap (which in fairness was right at the time) Plenty of smaller less well funded clubs have achieved plenty compared to rich clubs around them (comparatively) look at all the big money and wage signings BCFC have made over the years yet still rovers hounded them doing better at times. It's about finding the right player not the one whose transfer fee makes the headlines. There have been some great players at rovers whose transfer fees didn't make the headlines.....mark Walters was brilliant for rovers for example , those fantastic champions league standard goals at Wembley in 2007 came from free transfer Richard Walker. It's not about impressing the neighbours its about getting the right player be that loan, free transfer or paying a transfer fee.

We have been way behind everyone else in the transfer market this summer which when you think we've just gone up into a higher league is somewhat surprising as we needed to strengthen more than other clubs. Now we are being left fishing in a much smaller pond for the next fortnight, unless we want to pay fees that is!

Are you happy with a 3-1 defeat because in DC we trust? And do you disagree with DC that we need 2 or 3 more signings? Like I've said already in this thread and others,we play our first two or three games and see where we are and there's time to bring in the players that DC has got lined up if he feels it's right. If he doesn't then we don't. He's the manager not us . We didn't just win back to back promotions on a low budget with a load of pressure to succeed because we were a massive club in non league, Darrell Clarke did. I'm not the manager and neither are you. We support and yes we've all got our opinions but the way I see it is this, If DC started the season with this squad then I'm fine with that , to see how the first couple of games pan out and he'll take it from there improve the squad and yes I trust him to get it right. I'm not saying he will , nothing's certain in football ,it could all go tits up of course it could. Our season in the conference started off terribly and last season wasn't looking to good early on either. I ask you, how did those two seasons end up up for us ?

Yeah and Leicester won the premier league last season, Burton won promotion to the championship and we won back to back promotions with a squad that a hell of a lot of our so called knowledgable and loyal support thought were only conference players and would struggle. A football season is one hell of a marathon.
