Puddy 6 - didn't have a lot to do but pulled off one decent stop near the end. Didn't convince 100% on crosses but got the job done.
Lockyer 7 - looked solid defensively, distribution simple but effective today. Good energy.
McChrystal 7 - neat and tidy, calm presence at the back.
Parkes 7.5 - couple of important blocks, turning into a real warrior
Brown 8 - excellent, intelligent link up play with Monkhouse a highlight of tonight's game
Gosling 6.5 - good run and shot early on. Drifted in and out of the game. If he could go on the outside more often we'd have a hell of a player.
Mansell 7 - solid, no nonsense performance. Good leader.
Lines 7 - some excellent delivery at set pieces, provides some real quality
Monkhouse 8 - my MOTM. Provides real quality and intelligence, link up play with Brown and Taylor was superb. Has good vision and the more we can get him involved in the attacking third the better.
Taylor 8 - typical Taylor performance, a constant menace, well taken goal but prone to the odd wild finish. Still a work in progress but can go on to much better things if he continues to progress.
Harrison 6.5 - a mark taken off for stupid red card. Up until then he played very well as a target man, linking well with Taylor and holding the ball up well. Hopefully if we get there, Wembley will be a good stage for his talents.
Subs: Blissett 6.5 - did well in the short time he was on and I back him have a good game on Sunday. Always a handful.
DC 9 - set us up to go for it and impressed with his decision to keep 2 up front when Ellis was sent off, which relieved some pressure from our defence. Ref 2 - awful. FGR 6 - awful first half but kept at it and posed a threat in the second half. Their right midfielder looked decent.

I agree with all those ratings but for me Lines was MOM, he also put his foot on the ball, spread the play with telling crosses, got stuck in, beat players with intelligent football, made an important block in the goalmouth when we looked a little dodgy. He's been a very good addition, fairplay to him for coming and DC for bringing him.

watched it live.
everyone was great.
sorry, can't say fairer than that.
Although I didn't even realise Gosling was playing until HT (not a criticism per se, as he was on other wing to where I was standing, and may well have been doing defending etc)
we won and looked very comfortable. Everyone deserves credit.

Watched on TV I agree with all of that except the bit about blistet up front on Sunday. If he plays we might play like FG do and then it's anyone's game. If Balanta plays it'll be on the deck and we can win comfortably. BTW I don't really rate either from what I've seen but we need to keep it on the ground.

Puddy 7 Lockyer 7 Brown 8 McChrystal 7 Parkes 8
Gosling 6.5 Mansell 6 Lines 8.5 Monkhouse 8
Taylor 7 Harrison 7
Subs (Blissett, Clarke) both not on long enough
DC 7 kept same team and got us out there on front foot but should have hauled Ellis off after the ref gave him a warning and we'd have finished the game with 11. Crowd 9 good to be amongst FGR 7 first half they were second best but their second half "muscular football" nullified us effectively.

Puddy 7.5 - was in no mans land for one mistake in the first half but I thought he coped very well with later pressure from FGR
Brown 7 - averaged out because I thought he had a great first half and a quiet second Parkes 8 - another solid game, clean sheet, looks like a real leader and some good passing as well McChrystal 7.5 - clean sheet, no-nonsense performance Lockyer 6.5 - solid
Monkhouse 6.5 - a bit nondescript I thought, good experience and positioning paid off, unlucky with the header in second half Mansell 7 - valuable player for us again if not the most noticeable Lines 8 MOM - Quality first half when he was the best player on the pitch, did what he had to in a difficult second half for us Gosling 6.5 - bright in patches, very quiet in others
Taylor 8 - energetic, dogged, scored, still wasteful at times Harrison 4.5 - actually thought Ellis started really well last night and didn't allow himself to be bullied by FGR, two yellow cards like those are unforgivable in a game of that importance though
Subs - not long enough to mark really, Blissett did okay DC 7 - clearly got them really fired up for the first half which was excellent, disappointed that he couldn't predict what happened with Ellis when it was pretty obvious Ref 2 - actually started quite well, to not send Clough off was completely unforgivable and made some odd decisions against both sides FGR 4 - understand why their style of play works on some teams but it didn't with us (especially in the first half) and Parkin had a bit of an off day.

Puddy 7 Assured performance handling was good
Lockyer 7 Solid Tom like performance. McChrystal 7.5 Handled the big lump very well. Parkes 7.5 Played well a little over confident bringing ball out at times. Brown 7 Good performance from Mr Consistent.
Gosling 6 lively first half drifted out of the game 2nd half. Mansell 7 Battled well also a wealth of experience in pressure games. Lines 9 MOM ran the show first half got stuck in 2nd when FGR went physical. Monkhouse 8 Bob is quite simply a good footballer with a positional intelligence many don't see.
Taylor 8 great goal showing real hunger. This lad wants it big time. Harrison 8 until second yellow he was having a blinder a real physical menace.
Subs: Blissett 6
DC 8 tactics bang on should have took Ellis off when red mist became apparent. Ref 4 His job got harder when FGR realised playing football wouldn't win them anything. FGR Decent players in Guthrie, Sinclair and Parkin the rest are average. Their defence is vulnerable and weak.
Was at the game.

Puddy 7 Lockyer 7 McChrystal 8 Parkes 7.5 Brown 7.7
Gosling 6.5 Mansell 6 Lines 8.5 Monkhouse 7.5
Taylor 8 Harrison 7
Subs (Blissett, Clarke) both not on long enough to mark but Blissett seemed out of sorts.
DC 8 Got most of it right apart from not bringing Ellis off with 20 mins to go after warming Blisset up. Crowd 9 Ref 3 Dreadful again! FGR 5 Thought they spent the first half playing at Alfretons level and were only kept in the game by Arnold in their goal. Second half better, one or two skilful players but team mostly made up of thugs who've know how to con the ref and wind up young inexperienced players. Given their ground location and dreadful access it's crazy that they fancy themselves as a football league team.
At the match.

Puddy - 6 - Didn't have lots to do but made a couple of decent saves.
Lockyer - 7 - Did well against a tricky winger in Frear. McChrystal - 8 - Hardly gave fatty Parkin a sniff and made a fantastic and crucial interception in the second half. Parkes - 7 - Nice and solid and bought the ball out of defence well at times. Brown - 7 - Linked up well with Monkhouse at times and was solid in defence as always.
Gosling - 7 - Good first half with some good shots that tested the keeper but not in the game in the second half. Mansell - 6 - Put in a few good challenges that helped us win the midfield battle. Lines - 8 - Always looking to pick the ball up and dictate the play. Seems to do the dirty stuff well now too compared to his first spell with us. Monkhouse - 7 - Looked a threat when given the ball as he seems to have a really good footballing brain.
Taylor - 8 - Very well taken goal and ran their defence ragged at times. Held it up well too against big CBs Harrison - 7 - Looked very good when on the pitch but let his temper get the better of him resulting in the red.
Subs: Blissett - 5 - Thought he would do more against a tiring defence but looked out of sorts.
DC - 8 - Put out the right starting line up but should have subbed Harrison after he got the yellow and then went in late again. Sure enough the red happened not too long after that. Ref - 4 - Dire. Can't really argue with the 2 yellows for Ellis but other decisions, especially the Clough one, were laughable. FGR - 6 - Dirty side who we looked like we would batter in the first half but they looked decent in the second. Stop Parkin from playing though and they don't seem to have too much more.

Ratings are finally complete and here are the scores. Note that I've only used the ratings from those that were at the game. I'm quite busy at the moment and didn't have time to do them separately. Thanks to those that gave TV scores anyway, I might still use them when I have the time.
I have also decided to delay revealing the season statistics until the season is over, whether that is tomorrow or in two weeks.
Chris Lines was again Man of the Match, his score of 8.5 exactly was the joint 5th highest of the season. This was behind Parkes at Gateshead (8.8), home to Altrincham (8.9), McChrystal in goal at Wrexham (9.0) and Sinclair at home to Gateshead (8.9).
Lines also became the first player to average above a 7 for their season score. Across his 9 games his average is now 7.004. Trotman had come closest, reaching 6.97 before the FGR home game earlier in the season. Della Verde also got to 6.92 after 4 games before his average slipped.
This game set the record for the highest starting XI performance this season. The 11 who started averaged 7.35. This beat the previous average of 7.34 which I hadn't realised was set in the Alfreton game. Before this it was 7.32 for the draw at Eastleigh.
The rating for the Forest Green team has been remarkably consistent across the three games we have played them. They were rated as 5.2 for the away game, 5.3 for the home game and 5.3 for this game.
This was by no means the worst refereeing performance of the season, 13 matches have had referees rated as badly or worse than this one.
Puddy 7.1
Lockyer 7.0 McChrystal 7.6 Parkes 7.9 Brown 7.7
Gosling 6.5 Mansell 6.8 Lines 8.5 Monkhouse 7.3
Taylor 7.7 Harrison 6.7
Subs: Blissett 6.0
DC 7.5 Ref 3.7 FGR 5.3

"Lockyer 7 - looked solid defensively, distribution simple but effective today. Good energy." ? Frear seemed to cross at will second half. Worried about him Sunday.
