Hahaha. Are you very young then? Robbie Ryan? Carl Regan? Graham Hyde? Paul Taylor? Was it Graham Hyde who scored the only goal in our 1-0 home win against then top of the table Hartlepool when we were bottom of the football league? one swallow doesn't make a summer. It probably means it's your birthday though

Alfreton v Barnet highlights. The pen looked well dodgy. he kicked the player. hopefully I won't be facing you on a football pitch

It looks to me he gets the ball then the player, although it's not clear, if he did just chop the player down why wasn't he booked as well. Akinde also missed an absolute sitter at around the 4 mins mark! not every foul in the box is a yellow, just like not every foul somewhere else on the pitch is a yellow. I wish he had got a yellow though! Would make him nervy

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess. Frankly I am bewildered at claims of him clearing having "quality" - I've not seen it. All I see is a fat, useless excuse for a footballer.
If he hadn't have played for QPR, I still believe we'd have a far larger number saying he was useless.
I thought Riordan was absolute sh*t, but I'd have him over Balanta every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I'd even have Anyinsah over him.
Terrible, terrible player who I pray is released in the summer.

I thought Riordan was absolute sh*t, but I'd have him over Balanta every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I'd even have Anyinsah over him. Terrible, terrible player who I pray is released in the summer. I think it might boil down to this... most lower lge players don't have a good first touchand aren;t that confident on the ball. Most players 'get rid of it' as soon as possible. Some managers encourage it, a few other don't, or try to help them by getting them to pass (short) quickly rather looking like hoofball merchants. Workrate is usually highly regarded in lower lges. when you have enough such players on a pitch at the same time, someone like Balanta looks different. Balanta ALWAYS wants an extra touch. If he was fit enough / sharp enough, and didn't usually have an oppo player jumping straight on him, he might be able to get away with it, but currently he doesn't look like he wants to adapt his style to the circumstances he finds himself in. He just can't always have an extra touch at this level. If he wants to he's going to have to turn himself into a nippy / jinky player like Carayol who can get himself out of tight situations. As someone who has railed against this idea of Harrison being better suited as a super-sub, it almost pains me to suggest that Balanta really should be a super sub, as then he might have a little time/space to be how he presumably wants to be. Just like leadbitter at the start of the season, there is a player in there. DC needs to find how to us him the best.

Watch the match again and you will see that he very rarely gave the ball away (something you can't say about some of them ) and the cross just before half time would have been in the net if Blissett had been playing.

I can remember watching astajevs playing for us and he was so better than his peers that sublime passes often went into space making it look like it was a wayward pass when really his team mates were not astute enough to make the required runs. Not saying balanta is as good as the latvian but given we are now in an even lower level I can see balanta in a better standard proving himself much more. I do though agree he still looks leads than match fit.

He always seemed a gamble as a signing given his long break from competitive football.

No, that was his brother. I was thinking of Reele Dunno. I think he played alongside Russian midfielder Fuctiv Inow.
