If I couldn't spare £30 a month for 1 game then yes I would say I couldn't afford to have a kid/s. Wow! A person's financial position between the time of starting a family, and a child reaching adulthood can vary greatly, mostly from factors which are beyond their control. Clubs like Rovers are in competition with so many other leisure activities these days, so it's good to see that admission offers for kids are on their agenda. I think that the final matches, when we're in the hunt for promotion, is the perfect time to make it as easy as possible for people to bring their youngsters along - get them hooked whilst the team is doing well, and there's a chance of a good atmosphere in the ground.

Obviously my opinion has hit a nerve and has a million different answers, so I'm not willing to argue it as it just comes across as snobby and your lucky etc... I can respect that.

Please continue as each forum needs a variety of opinions and mine is not necessarily right. I grew up in a poor area but have never wanted for anything, been fortunate in life and can afford to go to games. I just know people who can't because of circumstances not through choice. The modern business side of the game is based on the wealthier supporter anyway so you may be right....

Lots of 2 team cities have a rich club for rich fans and a poor club for poor fans. Manchester, Nottingham, Liverpool etc. Imo gearing up to affordable family prices may be the best way to combat City82ltd.

Exactly. and the family terrace and blackthorn & centenary terraces are never full. my bro has supported gas for 25 years and paid his dues. Now young twins have come along, and he's finding it hard to get a permanent job (odd contracts finish & start / agencies mess you around etc). I wouldn't consider 1 (yes only 1) free kid to be an outrageous offer if he buys a Full price tkt! I hate to say this but if times were so tough then why have a child? don't cha just love internet forum. everyone thinks they have to have a comment on every bloody aspect of someone's life. I wasn;t going to honour that sh** with a reply but I have to say that is the shittiest question I've ever been asked. I guess you (a)don't have children, and (b) think that your pension, your future govt care, your NHS care etc is in a handy little pot at 11 Downing St with your personal name on it. P.S. just in case you REALLY think I need to explain my brother's life, money and job insecurity came after twins. Oh, and children may be a choice but twins aren't. He's a Rovers fan FFS. lay off the judgements please.

I certainly won't begrudge ticket discounts for kids (or adults!!) if it means that they'll go, whereas they wouldn't have before due to it being too pricey.
People forget that a) we don't sell out on a regular basis - imagine the atmosphere if the Mem was a bit more packed each week. It's quite likely too that, if the 'discount games' are successful then people will come back and pay full price.
Also, b) with (hopefully, possibly) a new ground on the horizon in the next few years, we need as many followers of BRFC as possible if we're to get anywhere close to filling it week in, week out.
As a ST holder its nice to have a few deals too (e.g. free pasty, programme, pint offer they had last year) but you'd save far more having a ST in the long run anyway.

CUE being berated for attacking the poster, not the post. Ok, maybe, but this has bloody riled me and made worse that my brother doesn't even have internet access or the IT knowledge to 'defend' himself. That will probably be attacked as well. Everyone is different. My bro is a labourer and not exactly IT literate / interested. He lives in a real world.
