Concerning. The only voice media wise has been wael, and more recently through other channels rather than to us. So I’ll ask again, why is the mem all of a sudden the best for the club yet in waels own words all those moons ago “we can’t stay at the mem, not viable”. Then we built a (not so temp) temp stand, and we know as gas heads that’s the end of that end of the ground project) while talking to a company about building a gert lush stadium. By a lot of people’s views, a play thing for his son who couldn’t even spell the word “ikea”. Happy doomsday gas heads. Guess there 100% behind Matty Taylor too. The stadium situation changed based on whatever would buy the most time. Simply put we’ve never had someone willing to finance it.

Thats not true as there will always be finance if a strong business case is made. Wael always wanted to follow the MK model which is stadium with hotel / event complex built in and indeed Br - istol has lacked a serious event centre with good transport links. That didnt happen and times change and you only have to see hat happened at places like Darlington to see what happens if you build the stadium before you have the support.

I remember Wael’s shock at the demise of Bury FC and how he vowed that whilst he was owner he would strive to ensure that fate would not happen to any league club let alone ourselves suggesting collective action could prevent such an occurrence. Then he had to dig deep to ensure it throughout COVID and restructured the club’s debt/equity profile to put us on a stronger footing. This took it’s toll though because having indicated that we could not make a long stay at the Mem sustainable and the FM was the choice he wanted to pursue he needed a greater proportion of outside investment to chase that dream. The announcement of the new majority owners was initially presented as like minds with a broadly aligned objective and experts brought on board to negotiate the FM deal. Very soon those ‘aligned minds’ have diverged considerably - FM killed off very quickly - not moving to become sustainable but putting lipstick on the pig of a stadium that cannot host concerts, conferences and barely host night football games without local objections - vague promises about the future of the club and no commitment about sustainability of other football clubs or guarantee of our own stability I have no idea what the eventual sole owners want Bristol Rovers to be whereas I did under WAQ even though he was hampered by the family handbrake and then COVID. Now for the next 18 months WAQ is effectively the “handbrake” - I’m sure he won’t obstruct any activity which will make us stronger but will be able to intervene in stalling reckless behaviour although this will diminish as more of his shares transfer ownership. Proof of the new pudding being produced in BS7 will emerge in the first six months of full ownership without Wael. Another awkward two years ahead then. Why will he be when he's already the minority shareholder, so the Al Seead's can already make all the major decisions without seeking his approval? Driving with the handbrake on slows things down not stop them dead…much like minority shareholders do in board meetings slowing decision outcomes down using delaying tactics at their disposal. Oh good grief…just realised it was you topper. Ignore that, you believe what you want… it makes no difference to the rest of the forum.

Had high hopes for Wael, but it's all been a bit rubbish ever since he sacked Darrell Clarke for complaining about the facilities really, except for a few months under Coughlan and the brief period Elliot Anderson was at the club.
If the Kuwaitis are as bad as some people seem to believe then he has also sold us down the river Jordan, in which case their legacy will also be his.

Fiver says Wael is seen more at Chelsea games than Gas games going forward . Don’t blame him to be honest because can anyone really change their boyhood club ?

This is either: (1). A massive forward step. (2). The beginning of the end. (3). A very disappointing outcome. (4). Exceptionally good news. (5). None of the above. (6). ALL OF THE ABOVE. The more things change the more they stay the same … All the same, we take our chances Laughed at by time Tricked by circumstances Plus ca change Plus c'est la meme chose!

Depends how long you`ve been away from home. For many years, I was a Rangers fan who also supported Rovers. Now I`m a Rovers fan who also supports Rangers.

I think everyone was feeling positive when he came in, especially Jake Barbers Dad😂
Nice bloke, good intentions, approachable, but didn't have the clout required to push big changes through financially, or shape the club to bring it to modern times. My faith in the incumbents today is not positive but more than happy to be proven wrong.

I’m wondering if Wael is part of the group looking to buy Reading. Also I presume that as it’s over 18 months that could not be correct and that the new owners don’t have the money at hand to buy him out straight away, or is it that they too have found buyers and want to make a quick buck. Didn't think you could have interests in 2 clubs - especially in the same division - at the same time. I wonder who has put the 18 months time scale in the public domain?

I think it tells you the money the new lot have by this taking 18 months to pay Wael off. Serious people with serious money have this cut and dried straight away, I mean we are a Div1 football club with no real assets now, haemorrhaging money and in desperate need of ground redevelopment.
They are raising the money to pay off Wael with the Quarters or simply don’t have the cash flow to pay him off.
I’m astounded people haven’t picked up on this. We paid Ipswich late, the FA nearly put us under transfer embargo, it’s still on the portal now. It’s taken 1 year for a very well known poster on here to be paid his money recently.
This lot are not serious football people, the talk of the Championship and Premiership is laughable, they don’t have the money.
Everything now lies on selling land at the Quarters.
I said Wael was on a goodbye tour, I will say this now, as soon as they get outline planning for the Mem and it will be better than the new stand we have now, they will sell us 💯.

Clubs and business in general always try and pay it over time, even if they have the money. It's the same with transfer fees. C**y have loads of money, but took out millions in loans to build their new stand etc. It suits Wael as well, as he's still president by name. If they were short of money, I doubt they would want to pay 100% of the bills when we are losing millions every season? It doesn't prove anything either way.

This is just how businesses operate. Absolutely does not prove anything about lack of funds.

I fully expect them to sell us, once they've 'added value'. Whether that's planning designs, planning permission or (ideally) once built and challenging at the right end of the table, time will tell.

Really don’t see how it’s possible to add value tbh. Unless as you say we’re on the brink of promotion but that hardly seems likely any time soon
