How can anyone refer to the significance of the Senior Injury when he had played 30 mins from two sub appearances in three games? He can’t be missed when he wasn’t being selected. Point is, we can't turn to him can we? So we miss that specialist option. Yes but when he was fit we didn’t turn to him at all anyway!! He was signed specifically for a particular position and then that position was filled by LT because the manager is set in his ways can’t adapt to a formation that suits him. I rate Senior and he looked good pre season particularly linking with Hutchinson but the failure to play a player you specifically recruited to play a role in your favoured formation is just baffling.

It's all a big mess really isn't it. We have some tough games coming up so could easily find ourselves in the bottom four within a couple of weeks. Do you fire the manager in a few weeks if we end up in the bottom four? Do the club really want to be paying the wages of one new manager plus two former managers at the same time? My personal preference is wait until the end of the year and see where we are. If we are in trouble then the club have to make a decision before the transfer window opens. We really don't want to be going through this whole process of rebuilding every summer. We've no real idea if JB is still on the payroll, or how much we're paying him if he is, if he is still employed and just on garden leave getting full pay, then surely his tweets/lost court case would be enough to dismiss him without compensation? Regardless how much will relegation cost us, £m's and probably delay any hope of getting in the Championship for 3-5 years? Plus attendances this season will take a hit by 1K/2K so that's another 20K a match/£100K's over the rest of the season. We are miles away from the Championship and every year we get further and further away. I said not that long ago that we are far more likely to end up being a yo-yo team between leagues one and two. I did hope that with some decent investment this summer (decent for us anyway) that would help push us a little higher up the table but we are yet to see any results from this yet. Are there any other managers out there (that would actually be interested) who could get a better tune out of these players? I am not so sure.

I think that's a good post! Baffling indeed.. Only thing I would say is: when form or injury take their toll, it offers other players bringing different skills to the table and possibly cement their place in the team ... Senior can't do it now. We miss that support. For me, we should revert to back 4 to stem this rot in defence and go back to basics but we don't appear to have senior or hunt and LT is just an afterthought in that position...

How can anyone refer to the significance of the Senior Injury when he had played 30 mins from two sub appearances in three games? He can’t be missed when he wasn’t being selected. The point is that from what I have seen, including pre-season friendlies and the cup games, he looked a decent option at Right Back or Right Wing Back. It certainly made me think that there would be competition for that spot and I expected him to play a few games regardless if he was first choice, given the anticipated management of game time / injuries with Jack Hunt. The significance of his injury for me was that despite Matt Taylor choosing to have Luke Thomas in that role on occasions - understandable given that Luke's work rate and effort was outstanding, but for me Not one I agreed with, as I would rather have Luke coming off the bench in an attacking role, than starting at Wing Back. Regardless, with Jack Hunt also being injured it created the problem affecting Luke Thomas' role, and at Peterborough having decided to omit Luke we had no natural right sided defender. The significance is, had he been fit Senior would have been a probable starter on Saturday, or at least a possibility. I also believe it had a knock on effect with other players and positions. Regardless, I would certainly hope that Jack Hunt is available next Saturday.

If Jack Hunt is really playing 18 holes of golf every day like he suggested on X yesterday, then there's clearly more to his absence than just game management!
As far as Moore returning soon he's missing the next two home games and I can't MT can afford to lose both of them, as that'll be 6 consecutive league losses.
Re Taylor v Forbes if the latter is worse than the former on his last two performances, then why have we even bothered getting him in loan? You do wonder if Ellison is real any worse than Taylor.

Senior should’ve started the season as the right wing back. Thats what he was bought for and he was fit and featured regularly pre season.
The fact he wasn’t was an another sign of poor management and we can’t now say we’re missing a player who hadn’t been selected anyway other than the fact we are missing having the option of using him.
My point is it’s not a significant reason for our current performances or results because he wasn’t being used correctly anyway.
Players seem to have this magical mythical improved importance the minute they’re injured or unavailable and become better when they don’t play than they were perceived to be when they were!

Yes, I also agree that Senior should have been there ahead of Luke Thomas. My personal belief is that Matt Taylor thought that Luke is just too good to leave out of the side and so gave that role thinking he can perform there, even at the expense of his attacking ability - and perhaps even with the thinking that he could always push Luke forward after a substitution, in effect putting on a defender, but having a more attacking outcome. Not an opinion I share, but just trying to see why he went down this route. It seems though, that Matt Taylor had come to realise this too, but his solution in that set up on Saturday was flawed. As I said, I hope Jack Hunt is available, as although we were all at see at times, I don't want wholesale changes too soon. I think the left side is sorted with Lino Sousa, the three in the middle will be better when Moore is back, just the right side to sort out. Regardless, we cannot expect Connor Taylor to push up so high without someone with pace covering him.

If we don't beat Wycombe we will probably be in the relegation zone certainly will if fail to win either of our next two games.Whether you want Taylor to stay or not after the owners have laid out over 1.5 million in transfer fees they will not be happy if we are in the bottom four and with a points per game average of just 1.18 per game I think they will remove Taylor, once a team is in the relegation zone it is difficult to get back out . Senior has been missing because he is injured and as for Sousa he looks good going forward but against Wigan he was run ragged by their winger and his defensive contribution is poor.
After the Wigan thrashing we should have played a more experienced side that included Ward and Hunt, young players heads often drop when a team goes behind as they have in the last two games.
It is early in the season but Wycombe is a game we really need to win.

Whatever our thoughts about MT and formations, in the end it will come down to results.
I think these owners have a long term idea of how we will progress and whilst promotion this year isn’t perhaps part of it, relegation is definitely not part of it. Owners will be looking around the league and seeing how comparable clubs are doing and asking why we aren’t doing as well. MT will be / is being given time.
But it will come back to results, win enough to keep us out of the relegation fight he’ll be ok, keep losing then like any other manager he won’t survive.
UTG!

Fair points, but Hunt has also been injured and match fit or not, deemed not ready for selection. Grant Ward has also returned from injury and has had his game time managed as will always be deemed injury prone, but Lindsey provided equal, if not slightly more (not sure how Championship appearances compare) experience.

Bringing in 16 new players will always mean it takes time for them to get to know each other and work on how we want to play. However, my main worry is that MT really doesn't seem to have any idea of his best 11. We're constantly changing the starting 11 & most weeks have made all 5 subs by 75 mins. I'm all for giving a manager time but there will inevitably come a point where the owners have a decision to make. How long they are prepared to wait who knows but having watched every game do far I just don't see any progression either in performance or identity. I've no idea if the two home games are make or break but there surely has to be some signs of improvement or the pressure on both MT & the owners is only going in one direction.

I agree Wareham, it is down to how long the owners will stand by their man if results don't improve, we really should be able to get 7 points from out next three games, 5 maybe Ok , but anything less is not good enough.

According to Bristol Live Sousa was the pick of the back 5 yesterday, Bilingo on the other flank seems to be the issue.
The lack of experienced FB's/WB's is an issue as only really Sousa is up to L1 standard, if Hunt is unlikely to return any time soon (or even ever?) and Senior is out for a few more games, do we need to go out and sign a non contract player this week?

Not sure many would have drastically changed the starting line up yesterday? It's a total mystery why players seem to be freezing, I can't see they can't be trying or we wouldn't turn games around. Likewise what's MT supposed to do when we're playing poorly, not make any changes? McCormick has been fairly ominous all season then yesterday he comes on and apparently plays a blinder! We're back to BG's era, what does the board do if results don't improve stick or twist, the latter led to relegation last time.

Hunt had a hamstring injury. You can walk, jog, run 3/4 speed and play golf ages before you can sprint. If he's playing golf, you would like to think he's doing work in the gym and even taking part in some of the training.

Regardless he only tweaked his hamstring, that doesn't take weeks to overcome once a player returns to training. LT was soon back in the side once he returned from his hamstring injury.

Don't the stats just confirm what we can all see from the results/league position?
