Wycombe are potentially a top 6/8 club, we have to worry more about the likes of Orient & Exeter, both our transfer spending and playing budget this season probably exceeds those clubs, so we should be at least matching them performance wise. Always annoys me that Exeter invariably finish above us and beat us often . Still think we’re a bigger club than them but maybe I’m fooling myself. Neighbour was a former Exeter Director.Reminds me they were out of the EFL for six seasons.Like how their expanding training complex is extensively used down here for community related projects.

Just read the interview pre Wycombe. Anyone else read it as “basically we will kick it as far and long as possible and try and pick up the scraps” I don’t mind it but a few games in your changing strategy of what we’ve been trying by to do for years. Long ball stuff is 'bread and butter' for the likes of Joe Low (6.83 Aerial Duels Won per 90) and Caleb Taylor (9.47 Aerial Duels Won per 90).

What a load of absolute drivel, if his training sessions are anything similar no wonder his team plays as if they haven't a clue what they are supposed to be doing. I can't really understand why any opposing manager has to praise the opposition before a game, did he really need to say "their squad is incredible" when it's hardly B'ham or Huddersfield we're playing on Saturday. I also couldn't really care less if Matt Bloomfield is highly respected, I'd sooner remember that he was a big part of Wyscum under Ainsworth and as, so far, has not achieved a lot as a manager. I fear MT is trying to soften us &/or the owners up for another loss on Saturday.

Taylor said he wants us to be a forward thinking team and play with agression running hard. How do some posters turn whatever is said into a negative. I honestly believe some supporters hope we lose to prove their sad agendas correct. Hoping for a positive performance and result on Saturday. Come on the Gas.

The players he’s brought in are young lads who want to play football, not streetwise senior pro’s suited to the long ball / feed off the second ball game. I actually don’t mind gong long, the amount of goals conceded in the lower leagues from playing out from the back is staggering, it’s the more complete strategy shift from the 7 figures we’ve spent this summer on young lads.
I feel sorry for the players.
If he’d bought in Joe Jacobson and gaffney you’d understand but we haven’t. The identity and plan been ripped up.

We do seem to be at the mercy of player power each time and that means we cannot get a good fee for them. I like what we have done with the new players, having that option of an additional year should help us get a bigger fee and stop players leaving on a free. They've probably also spent longer in 4th Division and lower.True, but what joy have we ever had in L1. We always seem to struggle and hardly ever in the promotion shake-up. Also thats even more credit to teams like Exeter getting higher fees while in a lower league It really depends on what we want as a club. Do we want to be a yoyo league 2/league 1 A settled league 1 I honestly don't know the answer apart from a settled championship side which is a position that we have never been in through the whole history of the club.

Have you read the full article on Bristol Live, it looks like somebody is trying to say 1000 words when just one sentence will do. He's the type of bloke you avoid at work or socially as he bored you to death before he gets to the point. Regardless what MT doesn't seem to grasp if we just boot the ball forward it comes straight back, as neither PC or RS are capable of keeping possession. The only way to keep possession further up the field is by using wingers or decent wing backs, like Hunt.

Can GF go from being a Championship defender to L1 talent spotter virtually overnight?

Please tell me where Taylor said we ae just going to boot the ball forward?. It's fine for you to have a opinion like he bores you to death. I honestly don't believe you have watched us play much if you think Promise can't hold on to the ball.

I’d rather float around in this division for a while if it means being consistent and building a good side and footballing club. Wrexham, for example. I actually hope they aren’t promoted but you have to say they are running the club well. I also don’t think we have tight owners as we have broken our transfer records since they’ve arrived. Upgrading the ground which of course will take time. Ultimately it falls on the manager. Whilst I am not a fan of his I will be there Saturday cheering on the side and expecting a performance.

It’s basically telling are players we are underdogs each time we play. I bet he couldn’t even name the squad if he was to be asked ( Wycombe) it I was the interviewer that’s the question I’d be asking. As he would know all 11 players playing in an incredible side….

This is a little damned if you do and damned if you don't. If he says its good opposition then he is blowing smoke up their arse. If he says we are the better team then he would be accused of doing the opposition team talk for them. What do you do? 🤷♂️

How about saying nothing about them, he didn't really need to say anything more than this:
"We can’t speak about the opposition too much and at length because we’ve got too much to concentrate in-house. That’s to perform more like the team that we almost fell in love with at the start of the season. We want to get back to that and get us going in the right direction."

Wrexham are in a situation that we haven't ever seen before in football. The revenue they are generating is setting the standard in the lower leagues. They generated over £10m to June 23 (conference season?) retail operation reaching £3.430m (2022: £1.303m) and Sponsorship / Advertising rising to £1.883m (2022: £1.053m) We can't get anywhere near that in league 1. They have paid over £1.5m in transfer fees this season without having to sell their best players.

This comment alone tells me he will be going more direct with little or no emphasis on constructing attacks from our own third….
“So maybe, certain ways of giving them, what I always call, a comfort blanket. More security during games and if the ball’s further away from your goal more often then as a defender, you’re probably under less pressure than they have been previously“
I have no idea whatsoever how consistently giving the ball away helps prevent the opposition scoring against you.
They will just keep on recycling the ball and turning it into pressure and as with anything pressure eventually results in mistakes and mistakes equal goals.
God knows what players like Garrett, Hutchinson, Thomas, McCormick, Sousa who all had an education at top level academies will make of being asked to play that way…even if they could.

The performance/result will be interesting to see if MT really goes for hoof ball against probably the worse team L1 to do it against, perhaps it's all a bit of kidology?

Top sportsmen should back themselves against others. Matt Taylor yet again blowing smoke up our opponents backsides. No wonder our players are so negative and timid listening to this jerk week in week out about how good the opposition are.
