We really are lady gardens. Some of our 'fans' should be flipping ashamed of themselves. I absolutely despair. All some people want to use this place for is to attack Bristol Rovers. Be that the Board, the Manager, our players and now a young lad who hasn't even pulled a shirt over his head. flipping wake up. It's US that's killing this club. bit melodramtic mate. A few people question why this is the best we can do. Surely it's a question we should all be asking. we get crowds of 6,000 and we get in kids who've hardly ever played a game. We need to seriously strengthen if we stand any chance of catching barnet. Personally i hope the lad does well and welcome him but i don't have to be mister happy about how these 3 days have gone. Who on here had heard of or rated LDV before he kicked a ball? Let's just give him a go eh?

We already have a young midfielder in Domonic Thomas, is he still out on loan?

Another poster compared losing Sinclair to losing Ronnie Mauge, when we looked odds on for promotion under Ollie, and hoped we learned from the mistake of bringing in youngsters to do a man's job. Unfortunately, you fear from this signing we didn't learn anything. We've lost LDV, Easter & Sinclair plus Clarke and replaced them with Dawson, who's hardly played and could return to Leicester after Saturday's game, and a player who couldn't get into mid table Torquay. Perhaps JW will surprise us all, if not, this season is looking like a repeat of last season's when we didn't bring in the right players in January. Easter got injured 2, yes 2, days ago!! Don't see how you can accuse DC of not lining up a 5 star replacement for him already. Clarke doesn't need replacing imo, Lockyer is as good as him in that position, its not a defensive midfielder we lack in the squad. The extent of Sinclair's injury was only realised recently was it not? Anyway, DC has got cover in this lad today. Dawson was brought in in place of LDV. Think it's a bit harsh to criticise DC when he has addressed (or tried to address) any issue that has come our way.

Who's criticising DC, he can only bring players on the budget he's given, bearing in mind we've brought In Dawson for free and a Torquay reject it doesn't take a genius to work out he hasn't been given a lot to play with. It's irritating that with a decent attacking CM and an LDV type winger (which Dawson may still be) we could still win this league, 4 pts have been given away in the last 2 away games alone.

Not jumping for joy we've signed a kid who didn't set the world alight or play very much for Torquay this season, especially when he's replacing a player like Sinclair. Clifford would have been a very good signing and would have added real quality to the team and in comparison this is not a very 'big' signing, and I feel underwhelmed.
That said, DC has made some good singings this season and I have no doubt he will know all about Wakefield and will feel confident he can add something to this squad. Fingers crossed he can.

I wish we could have got Ryan Ledson in from Everton. 18 years old looking for his first loan club. Future England international i reckon. Bit beyond us though i guess.

Not so sure about that, you sense this was a panic buy after DC's first choice turned him down, he may know hardly anything about JW but clearly had to sign somebody.

It does look like a panic swoop purely to cover Sinclair and not to add genuine quality to the squad, but I don't think DC is the type of manager who signs someone he has no knowledge of. He'll have done some work on him, even if it has only been in the last couple of days.

I think we're just questioning how good is a player that was sent back from his loan at Torquay because he wasn't good enough to get in their side. Hargreaves obviously doesn't think he's as good as Torquay's midfielders so is he good enough to step in for Sinclair for the next month? We have some important games coming up. Have to say I'm a little concerned. We desperately needed some quality in midfield, someone that wasn't just cover but who could give us a different option and challenge Mansell & Sinclair for a place in the starting 11. On the face of it doesn't sound like Wakefield is that man. I'm just questioning how the hell anyone can cast that kind of aspersion before there's been so much as a picture of the lad holding a Rovers shirt? We don't know how he'll do in partnership with our players rather than the Gulls. We don't know how he'll benefit from our coaching. We don't know anything about his character. Being sent back early would certainly make me re-double my efforts in training. Th e cries of oh why oh why does no one want to come to Rovers that are always followed on here by the instant dismissal of the players that we do get a hold of is so much cognitive dissonance it's unreal. It's not just online. I was stood next to people shouting "fvck off to Hartlepool then!" to DC when we went down one against Bath. The constant abuse of our top scorer speaks for itself. It's really, really frustrating. You should have told them they were exhibiting classic signs of cognitive dissonance. That would shut the buggers up.

Well hold on, that's also not true though is it. We've brought in Dawson, Wakefield and Easter this window - a winger, a centre mid and a striker. The 3 roles everyone has been crying out for this month. A Torquay reject is maybe how you choose to look at it but there's a lot more to it than that. There's a lot more to football and a signing than 'he was rubbish for them, he'll be crap here.' Christ you only have to look on our own doorstep at the likes of Coles, Blizzard, A Williams, Rigg, Akinde, Clarkson, Howe, Brunt etc to see how rubbish that theory is. None of their clubs looked at their record here, mostly at a similar level, and said no thanks, they can't be good enough. You also don't know how good the CM partnership for Torquay was working at that time. If those 2 players were on fire together then of course he'd struggle to get ahead of them if they were both fit. Doesn't make him a 'reject' or a bad player as many seem to suggest.

I blew a gasket. Exactly the same reaction as our manager. We both knew automatic promotion was gone. Surprised most others didn't feel the same way. Its not gone. There are still 42 points left to play for. Its unlikely but certainly not gone. It's easy to feel it's gone on a bad weekend, but the way I always test these things is to imagine that next weekend we win and they lose. How will it look then? In this case, the gap would be just four points with 13 games to go. No-one could say that's out of reach.

Hardly a positive or welcoming comment on this thread and yes we'd all have liked a star signing but I'd like to welcome young Josh to the club and hope he proves a few doubters wrong.
Just listened to his interview, he sounds bright and managed to avoid most of the usual cliches. He pointed out that Torquay were on a good run of form when he was there.
Bournemouth fans seem to rate him so he might just do a decent job for us.
