Before talking about developing the East Stand, we the great unwashed will have to wait for the owners to mime their plan (if indeed they have one) as they are awful at providing very much by the way of any meaningful verbal communication A little harsh that. They have come forward and outlined what the plan is. Confirmed that they won't engage in small talk and will only comment when something is ready to be delivered and within their control. A proper feasibility study of the potential for the site should take a few months - this is because they should be looking at not only what fits; for what cost; for what capacity, they will be able to look at the likely planning issues as well. This will not be wasted money as each option will have high level studies carried out - Environment, socioeconomic, light, sustainability, blah blah blah. I would be surprised to see any substantial moves on the rest of the ground before the summer of 2025. There may be some enabling works carried out that don't affect capacity and safety for the fans etc. I know its said often but, it really is a case now of less haste and more speed. Not really that harsh. The south stand development came so far out of nowhere we hadn't even had permission to build it. I would very much like to see what the owner think the ground will look like in 10 years time, what is the vision, no CAD design, no artistic impression?

I would very much like to see what the owner think the ground will look like in 10 years time, what is the vision, no CAD design, no artistic impression? He's already told you what the next steps are and what his short term vision is. There is no existing CAD design yet and frankly, there is a process to go through to get to that point involving consultation, option evaluation and as we've learned a series of issues that need to be considered form biodiversity net gain, sustainability, transport planning, safety planning, etc.etc.
Let the South stand be completed and lets fill that first. Just as a reminder, we had a capacity of well over 12,000 for 24 of the 27 years that we we've been at the Mem, but you can count on the fingers of one hand the occasions that we've actually got over 12,000 in the ground.
On your other point, if there was a potential owner with deep enough pockets to just build a stadium, Wael would have sold up to them. There wasn't, so for the time being we have to live within our means.

Of course it's not our money. Not our money either when we buy players or pay them 5 grand a week. What we can afford personally has nothing to do with it. If you buy a league one football club with ambitions for the Championship then it's fair to say you should have the financial clout to deliver that. The only reality check we need is when comparing the multitude of clubs who have managed to build new stadiums or have developed their grounds in a way fit for their level. This. What does it not being my money have to do with it. I didn't buy a football club. If it going cost 10s Millions to build a stadium, then thats what its going to cost. If it costs 10’s of millions then you’re not going get what you want. But I don’t think you will accept this and keep asking for something that is not realistic for our owners. To coin a phrase, you really need to lower your expectations.

Not ambitious = just pust ends on current east and West stand, which is what Hussain AlSaeed said. Ambitious = knock it all down and build contemporary football stadium and facilities. "Just"? You can make any statement regarding ambition when it's not your money. Some people need a reality check as to how much these things cost. If you can’t afford it, why you buying it?

He did buy it, doesn't mean he's got to spend millions after that. And not as if the planning, architects, structural engineers, builders etc were free.

Interesting to read about the 34500 capacity stadium proposed for the Euros in Northern Ireland "The new stadium was originally due to cost ÂŁ76m, but it is now expected to run to at least ÂŁ110m." puts the cost of a large purpose built stadium in perspective .....

We Would'nt have to build to International Stadium or National Stadium standards so you cost a lot less. No Question thro you are looking for Financing for approx 50M+

The owners are business people so return on investment is the key part.

The owners are business people so return on investment is the key part. Sometimes you’ve got to spend a bit of money to make a bit of money. Demolishing the East stand and rebuilding might cost a fortune, but if it makes the club sustainable in the longer term, that’s less millions the owners will have to inject into the club to cover losses down the line. I think grants, low interest loans, fundraising and transfer fees should be looked at as a legitimate way of enabling this as well if it’s too much for the owners to stump up. AFC Wimbledon fundraised part of their new stadium as a fan owned club, we’re talking about a couple of stands that can be slowly developed over a period of time.

They literally have no idea what it can look like. There’s a big difference between what they think and what is achievable. They have loads of development /feasibility work to conduct before they can come to the fans and say “this is what’s deliverable”

I also think people are wrong saying starting building before getting planning permission is a cock up. I think we’d still be arguing the point now instead of sitting smug with permission if we hadn’t got an application registered early and got on with it. Councillors can whinge and residents can whinge all they like but there was no way we weren’t getting permission with that building and the history on the site. 8:0 and an abstention - that’s the reality!

Oh and the South Stand makes good commercial sense if we can get somewhere near filing it.
That was probably a help in getting the new owners on board I suspect.

Do you think the new owners would have pulled out of the FM project without first taking advice and getting a view of what the Mem could become if they decided the best thing to do was to stay put?

Question is what are they going to do with it after the Euro’s, given it was once a derelict stadium.

My only hope is they learn by the last cock up and get planning permission prior to pulling down the current stand I’ve just done a quick door knock along Alton Road and Trubshaw Close….They are highly delighted that we are about to tripple the size of the East Stand. Planning permission should be a breeze.

My thoughts, you would have hoped not, surely they would have made an informed decision on the other options before deciding they couldn't afford FM.

The fans pay the club millions but over a longer period. I remember someone doing the maths that , when NH was in charge, the fans paid in circa 30 million over his tenure. The fans are the club
