Belshaw 6
Hoole 8 Thomas 8.5 Gordon 8.5
Evans 4 Rossiter 8.5 Finley 7 McCormick 4
Marquis 6.5 Loft 7.5 Collins 8
Subs: Jasper 7 Kilgour on far too long!!
Ref 3 Exeter 5 If the penalty incident had happened at Exeters end it would have been a free kick to Exeter for backing in. Their second goal originated from an awful free kick by Evans in a case where we had a clear advantage that should have been played. I thought overall the defence was good today and it was a good result because we kept going and deserved to win. Its easy to say Exeter were crap but we made them look bad.

If James Belshaw, Antony Evans and Luke McCormick are the least good performers in a particular match.
WOW.
We have a real team in the making.
The season ahead is worth savouring.

Belshaw.5 .Hesitant coming for the ball early on but made a brilliant late save. Hoole.7.5 Collins .8 Thomas 7. Evans 3.Not a full back Rossiter 6.5. Improving but not there yet. Finley 8.5.Some great late defence splitting passes.Always urging the other players.M O M. Mc Cormick 4. Anonymous Marquis. 6 Great goal and helped out defensively but not involved enough for me. Jasper .Quality.7.5 .Starting Tues it seems. Kilgour NOLE. Exeter .5.(Ground improved since my last visit.)Free cup of tea for the first 50 through the turnstiles. Gasheads 9.Well done except for three drunks a few yards in at the front who came in late for both halves and didn't watch the game just concentrated on taunting the Exeter fans and looking at their mobiles
Gordon 7.5 Loft.Doesn't always anticipate passes but had presence.Took his goal well. Getting better all the time.7.5 Ref 8.Vey fit and always in control. Better Rovers but we need to vastly improve free kicks which we wasted every time.

Belly 6
I’m not going to slate him, he will know he made an error, still No 1 for me.
Hoole 6
Good going forward with the ball, a little nervy when being ran at by opponent. Still a top prospect and gives his all
Thomas 7
Played well. No nonsense. Gave their No 9 no sniff all game.
Flash 7
Good with the ball at his feet, composed, played well
Evans 5
Not his position, silly booking, silly pen. He will come good when defenders are back and he’s in a more forward role
Finley 8
Brilliant. In their faces, non stop, encouraging others, more like it
Rossiter 7.5
Again brilliant. Best game in a gas shirt. If these 2 can stay fit and out of the Refs book, this will be our 2 in the middle going forward
McCormick 5
Lost. Put a shift in but he’s not productive as a wing back/wide midfielder. Will get better.
Marquis 7
Never stopped. Good performance. Suits that position of playing in a front 3, took goal well
Loft 8
More like it! I’ve not been his biggest fan, but I enjoyed watching him yesterday. I was in the home end and quite a few were saying he was our threat. Good in the air, quick, took his goal well. Keep it up Lofty!!
Collins 7.5
Direct, a threat, but goes down too easily sometimes. Will play at a higher level one day, enjoy him while he’s ours. Quality player.
Subs
Jasper 7
Good impact. Direct. Great cross for goal. Must be pushing to start.
Kilgour NOLE
Ref 7 in control, up with play, good. Soft pen? Always when it’s against you I suppose.
Exeter 6.5
Tidy, well organised, bit toothless up top. Good atmosphere, point about right I would say.
Shoots of optimism from me yesterday. Defended well with makeshift formation, and looked dangerous when breaking. Excellent to sit up in the side stand watching the gas support Bob up and down, they kept singing, encouraging, and were rewarded with a late goal.
Must beat Cambridge to keep the momentum going

From ifollow...
Belshaw 4.5 What was he thinking of,? A school boy error that was bound to happen sooner or later. I do worry about his form this season...?
Hoole 7.5 glad to have him back. Thomas 7.5 steady performance nothing got past him. Gordon 8 set up the move for first goal.
Evans 4.5 what was he thinking of? I wonder his inclusion at back of midfield, surely better utilised further up pitch? Seems to have Westbrooke boots on for set pieces, time for a change in that department. Rossiter 7 done the simple things. Finley 8 m o m midfield dynamo, great at that art of simple pass move break up play, but needless booking. McCormick 7.5 neutralised most threats from the left and dropped back to aid defence.
Marquis 7.5 ran ran ran and deserved his goal. Loft 7.5 fast becoming undroppable. Collins 7.5 shooting off target, but his and the other two up front make the front 3 a potent passing and running formation..
Subs: Jasper 8 made the difference with pace. Kilgour n o l e.
Ref 8 appeared to get most things right.
Exeter 6 that's 2nd of promoted clubs we've played, not beaten, but feel we are better than.
Apart from the 2 disasters in Devon, we should have taken 3 points but many would have taken a draw prior to match and that's the fair result in the end.
Get the defence sorted and I think we'll be cementing our place in this division minimum by early new year, otherwise another relegation dogfight ensues...

Belshaw 6 oops it was always going to happen! a great save late on though Hoole 7.5 added balance to an improving defence Thomas 8 a no nonsense game, strong in the air and hardly put a foot wrong Gordon 8 his best game to date, a polished performance. Evans 5 out of position ,out of sorts, a cheap penalty handed Exeter a lifeline Rossiter 8.5 M.o.m protected the defence superbly Finley 8 linked up well with Rossiter allowing Exeter little scope McCormick 7 he got though a lot of mainly un-noticed but important work in an unfamiliar position Marquis 8 thrived in a three up top and was in the right place for the superb cross Loft 8 he's been like a new signing, he'looks stronger, quicker and more confident than last seasons pale shadow. Collins 8 the usual mix of skillful running and good link up play Subs: Jasper 7.5 an exciting ten minutes, i think theres a lot more to come. Ref 6.5 decent Exeter 6.5 took advantage of two gift wrapped mistakes, without those they never looked liked scoring.

Results in and Aaron Collins was Man of the Match with a score of 7.55
This was Collins' 3rd Man of the Match in a row. He is the 12th player to achieve this 'hat-trick' after Parkes, Harrison, Lines, Lockyer (x2), Bodin, O. Clarke, Bonham (x2), Clarke-Harris (x2), Upson, Blackman and Belshaw
The starting XI average was 6.53
Belshaw 5.1
Hoole 6.8 Thomas 7.5 Gordon 7.2
Evans 4.2 Rossiter 7.2 Finley 7.2 McCormick 5.3
Marquis 6.6 Loft 7.1 Collins 7.6
Subs: Jasper 7.1 Kilgour NOLE
Ref 5.3 Exeter 5.0
