What are the rules re selection? My interpretation is that basically, EFL clubs in the competition must field at least four 'first team' (my definition) outfield players in the the starting line up, and at any time during the match: 'Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches'. 'Full Available Strength’ means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet. I would say the intention of the rule is to avoid a complete team of youth or development players, and gives the requirement of having at least four first team/senior players in the starting line up, and at any time during the game. But to avoid the obvious loopholes, they use the term of 'Qualifying Player' which is defined as: - a player that has started the immediate previous First Team Fixture, or
- a player that subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture
Failing the above, the guidance allows for a player that would/may otherwise be considered a 'first team' player : - a player that has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (in their career)
- a player that is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.
- a player that is amongst the top ten first team starts for the current season.
EFL Clubs failing to follow these requirements are subject to fines of up to £5,000.

So Westbrooke, Rodman and Clarke could play as they have over 40 games.

Really looking forward to this one, yes it’s just the pizza cup and all that but it’s the first place I ever saw the rovers play and tonight I take all three kids and the good lady to their first ever away game! Also it’s a chance to relax and enjoy a game that won’t for once feel like a hugely pivotal barometer on our season. Still totally stressed about Shrewsbury! They are living in my head! 😩

Not gonna be a nice day out to the Ocean City, fear a mauling in the air.

Joe has pretty much said don't bother coming. With the cost to the fans let alone plymouth who have to heat and light the place up for a complete waste of time. If it has to be played then schedule it behind closed doors for a 2pm kick off.

So Joey has said he doesnt want to play the game and wishes it wasnt happening, but a good chance to get some experience for some and minutes for others. I'd go something like (rules allowing)
Ward/Anssi Hoole Kilgour Sesay Gordon Saunders Rossiter Jones Lawrence Loft Greenslade

Isn't Jed Ward out on loan? So would be Belly or Jaakkola in goal Somone said loan players can play for parent clubs in the JPT, not sure how that works. Would like him and Egan to play if possible. Unlikely with Egan I'd guess

I Think a few will be suprised by the stating 11 looking at what people are saying and I think many arent far away! Will be suprised if Barton is there though as I think last year he left it to his understudies to Manage.

WARD SESAY KILGOUR T CLARKE LAWRENCE JONES WESTBROOKE RODMAN SAUNDERS LOFT GREENSLADE Ward played a full 90 minutes for Hungerford yesterday I doubt we’d make him start on what should be his down day. Reckon Anssi will have the gloves and either Belly or an academy prospect will be on the bench. If JB wants Rodman and Westbrooke gone by Thursday night I don’t think he’d jeopardise any move by risking them getting injured in a game now besides McCormick needs match minutes and if Rossiter is soon to be sidelined we might as well use him whilst we can. Might give one of the youngsters White or Larvin a run out at the back instead of the exiled Clarke, agree the front three you’ve selected, all need minutes so… Jaakkola Sesay Kilgour White Lawrence Rossiter McCormick Jones Saunders Loft Greenslade Think that covers the rather convoluted squad strength rules, if it doesn’t quite do so then we may have to play Saunders or Loft from the start against Morecambe or pay the £5k fine.

Dont care about the score, but hope some youngsters stake their claims. Lots of spots up for grabs! Time for Jones to show what he's about. First chance for Greenslade etc. Come on Joey - get them up for it!!
