Still a few issues and I seemed to be one of a small number with issues. Problems scanning ticket from mobile. Steward just sending people into the turnstile despite me saying, "I'd like to get back out so I can go to a turnstile with an operator to sort." (Note - the QR card is more reliable than the bar code) The bloke just pointed at people, didn't even grunt. After the chatty and friendly experience with Burton stewards and greatly improved Port Vale stewards compared to previous visits this was a shame. 50/50 prize fund low. Not sure if that was lack of interest or the fact that seller behind the Thatchers bar could not get any connection with the card reader. I understand cashless but no back up when cards fail = lost revenue

Shocked. Well, not really.

Stewards very good at our turnstile, chatty friendly did what they had to do without any fuss. The club have acknowledged the issues from the first game with the printed/app ticket ideal and reversed it meaning our cards were usable again, hopefully the same will happen reference cash, a poor decision to go cashless in my opinion, I use cashless wherever possible but other options need to be available to maximise funds into the club!

Weirdly my brothers season card is one of very few (apparently) that didn’t work yesterday. Cashless all fine but at 12pm the hot dog place in the east terrace had no standard hot dogs left only chilli cheese and was I think closed up at half time. Don’t understand how they don’t prepare better?

I can understand the reason for cashless at the turnstiles & in the bars but is it really necessary for programme & 50/50 sellers. Yesterday I got out a £5 note by force of habit to buy a programme & was told sorry it’s cashless only, ok I produce my debit card & then told our card readers are playing up & having difficulty connecting. eventually after a couple of minutes it connects , but I nearly said forget it as I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle just for a £3.50 programme. I can now see why the 50/50 prize money is half what it was in previous seasons before this cashless introduction, definitely in my eyes a step backwards.

"Cash is King". If there is no provision to accept a £1 coin for a half-time 50/50 draw ticket, then no purchase from me. The drop in revenue suggests a rethink is necessary. Not patient enough to wait while the seller tells me the card reader is playing up. Doh.

I of course had the chilli cheese. Perfect in the heat!

I feel sorry for the SC volunteers. They are trying but nearly everyone knows that using cards for a £1 50/50 ticket is just plain stupid.
It takes too much time to serve customers even if the machines work well and I cannot see how the cost savings (dodgy coins, human error in counting, easier accounting etc) can be offset against a loss of a potential further prize of £500 per match. Thats looking at over £10k a season. For a unsustainable, loss making organisation, why persist in continuing with something that doesn't work so well?
It just seems like a change for changes sake (or to save face after devaluing the old SC dinosaurs).
As well as the card/cashless issue, there is also less transparency. The SC website used to list the results, posters were also put up in the bars after games with results and pictures of the lucky winners were in the following match programme. I honestly can't remember the 50/50 results being shown on the FC website.
I know some people have not bought tickets since the volunteers were "sacked".
Also there is no youth team/development pages in the programme since Keith Brookman's days.
All these factors are contributing to the smaller prizes.
If you are reading this Tom or Mr Bright, please see sense and give the 50/50 back to the SC. At the end of the day it will earn the club more money and surely that is part of your remit?

Just asking for my mummy laundering service .. *ahem!* 😇 I too have wondered about how the winnings are paid out. Been lucky enough to win the big prize twice in the past with my mate GHB. Very nice being handed £1500 in cash at halftime, stuffing it in a large pocket and walking out the ground at full time £1500 richer!

Assuming you bought 2 rounds at £5 per pint and got yourself one that means you have 2 friends 😁. Or did you tell the others to F off 👏👏👏

The prizes are now paid by bank transfer. The two people that came down to claim their prizes yesterday were paid during the second half so would have had the money in their account within a few mins of half time. I publish the winners below every week. (will get yesterday's up when I get home later today) Cheers, Jamie. bristolroversmemorabilia.weebly.com/

As cashless is causing the club to lose valuable extra income, can the SC not ask (or do a business case) to take over the 50/50 again and make it customer friendly by allowing cash or card? Seems like a non brainer to me. Also why does the FC not publish the result, or at least a link to your site?

Some of the stewards from the new security firm are absolute terminators. I’m sure they’re all nightclub bouncers doing abit of daytime work.
