Outside of the football club aside, I have nothing but time, respect and admiration for what JB is doing at our club.
This is typified by the following
"My commitment to the Gasheads is that every player that pulls on that jersey will give everything they've got for the football club because we're custodians, we don't own the club. We will all disappear in a period of time and we want to set a legacy here that sets the benchmark for the blue half of Bristol."
He knows what the score it and what it's all about. He genuinely cares and wants the best for our club

As did DC - that The Gas will support in numbers, home and away, if given something to support. That's why he came here. Obviously he and others will move on - but it's going to be a bloody great ride until then!

I am inclined to agree with you. There is no doubt that his players always put in a shift and go right to the end.Today, rather than Oxford coming on strong towards the end, looking for the equaliser, we kept pressing and if anything, finished the stronger. A lot of that must come from JB and the kind of ethos he is creating. That says to me that he does indeed 'get it' acknowledging that we as a fanbase will follow in numbers if the team demonstrates their commitment to the cause, week in week out. This is a fit team but it's not workmanlike- it tries things that are clearly planned on the training ground. At times today, I thought we could have got the ball into the danger area a bit quicker. However, I bet JB doesn't chastise the players for trying things- he trusts his players to make decisions on the pitch and indeed encourages it. It's been a long time since I have watched our team work so hard as a unit but at the same time demonstrate flare and creativity. Long may that continue.

One thing which is noteworthy- how the tone of a club comes from the top.
A total culture change. A company, a club, is a series of instructions given down through the pyramid of power.
One thing which struck me I learned in my career is just how much difference new CEOs and MDs make. Cultures can be made or broken.
I used to think that their pay was totally unjustified, they didn’t deserve it and that it’s the guys on the front line who really make the firm a success.
I actually disagree with this now. Humans are smart monkeys and leaders, good leaders, are very rare and that’s why they earn such good money and acclaim.
The evidence for this is visible every time you watch rovers now.

the great sides of the recent past all have one thing in common, the work ethic, especially when they lose the ball.

Those are nice comments that I can agree with, but he won't be gaining my respect off the football pitch until he is proven not guilty for assaulting his wife.

I would be very surprised if he was found guilty. With a baby due very soon, would suggest she doesn't feel like she was assaulted. You would have to assume that Joey wife would have to give her account of alleged assault. From a football point Joey has transformed what we had 2 years ago to a team that I can fully get behind. They give 100 percent every week, play some really good football..we can be proud of the team that Joey has assembled.

Well I knew I'd get jumped upon for saying what I said, I try to avoid the topic entirely these days for that reason. But those are my views, the bloke is innocent of his charges until found guilty of them in a court of law, I just find it hard to respect accused domestic violence offenders until they are no longer accused and found not guilty. I shouldn't have really posted in the first place to be honest. Those are my views and I don't want to hoist them on anyone else, others can feel free to make their minds up. As for your last paragraph I'm all with you, I've praised JB many times for what he's done for us this last year on the football pitch, and I wouldn't want to take that praise away from him.

I will not respond to this, but I will say I found your comments not nice and now hypocritical. I shall say no more as I like to keep level headed. Everyone are entitled to opinions but sadly you can't please everyone

I accept I shouldn't have brought it up, as we don't want to tread over old ground on this forum again. I apologise if I've offended anyone.

I think we are on the same page with regards to off the pitch issues, however as someone who didn't want him in the first place I have to admit that he has earned my respect as a manager. I just hope Wael can back him over transfers and infrastructure, and that other events don't derail what we all hope to be a very exciting season.

I think Joeys appointment was an inspired one from Wael. After the dreary Tisdale and B Tech Garner appointments it was what the club was crying out for, a no nonsense take the bull by the horns manager.
Just remember Joey will always be a target of the press regardless just because of his bad boy past doesnt mean he's guilty all the time
