I wonder if it's too much to expect that fans are allowed to take into the Mem cold drinks in plastic bottles Saturday. Might save people becoming ill. I took a plastic bottle of Tango into the FGR game - I assumed it wasn't queried due to the heat. I’ll chance it with me and the kids on Saturday. They can confiscate the water off the kids if they want but given the heat they’d surely feel a bit mean? I have to say, some of the rules are a bit strange though … couldn’t understand why at Swindon last season you could buy a bottle of water/coke but they wouldn’t let you keep the lid? Really couldn’t work out what safety risk having a bottle with a lid would pose?

No teeny plastic fizzy drinks bottle tops that weigh absolutely nothing, but if I really really wanted to in some crazy moment of lunacy… Could lob my mobile phone at any player I like, would definitely sting if it caught them in the bonce. Go figure! Will definitely be armed with my deadly bottle of Evian Saturday lunchtime.

A lid on keeps the bottle heavier so more aim able and will hurt more if it hits you. Beside throw a lidless bottle (full) from the middle of the terrace and the cameras/stewards will pick you out easy by all the wet annoyed fans who turn around to moan at you ! If only we could all be trusted to not throw things onto the pitch or at opposition fans.

I'll be taking my own drink to every match this season after being charged £2 for the worlds smallest bottle of water at the FGR game. Absolute pi$$ take.

You can’t bring in a bottle in case you throw it, but you can buy a bottle once inside?! An exception ought to be made for this match as I guarantee there will be dozens taken ill.

But it's ok to take in a Gert big drum with the weapons to beat it with?

I know people from the club read this so I will make a direct plea
You need to confirm what the plan is with water access Saturday Asap. I would suggest if you deny access to people coming along with their own source of water or not guarantee the equivalent (we got water for two quid a kiosk…but it might sell out mate) (not good enough )you are putting supporters health and safety at risk big time.
I fully expect to be allowed in with 2 sports bottle full of water as myself and son will be exposed to sunlight for 2> hours.
I don’t want the game off, no problem with hot weather but if it’s going ahead you need to allow people to bring in relevant things that will help keep them safe with the heat.
Granted it should only be a one off because temperatures are extreme but come on now guarantee supporters safety.

Whenever England played in hot climates and moaned about the heat I thought just get on with it you moaning gits what’s wrong with you.!! Couple of years ago I played 5 a side at 4pm on the hottest day of the year about 35 degrees. It was shear agony. After each run my lungs were on fire and I had to stop and catch my breath. I still consider myself fit and play football and run 4/5 times a week. It was unbelievable and completely changed my opinion on footballers playing in temperatures like this. I know they are fitter than the rest of us but it shocked me so much how difficult it was I really do appreciate how much it could effect players now. Fully expect it to affect both teams Saturday. Goes back to that old simple adage all of us were taught as kids “Let the ball do the running” Will be crucial come midday Saturday dudes You are right and we tend to be decent at knocking it around. This season that hasn’t quite clicked yet but never a better time to be looking after the ball than Saturday and I think having coutts back will help with that.

Yeah full bottle of water with the lid on is like getting hit by a brick without the sharp edges , weighs sbout the same. Empty or open not going to do much harm. Obvious really , I don’t have a problem with that. I’m going to turn up with a 2 litre bottle of water with the lid off. If they don’t let me in I’ll speak to the supervisor.

If it were not for fear of the hooligan minority would it not have been straightforward for the club to switch the kick off to 7:45? Football clubs are quite happy to cancel matches when there is a bit of ice on the ground for health and safety concerns so why not consider action when there’s extreme heat and a ground that leaves paying customers totally exposed with no shade? The club have been very quiet so far in how they will help fans mitigate the risk by staying hydrated. Why not allow people to bring their own bottles on the basis of trust with the caveat of anyone throwing a bottle will be subject to an immediate lifetime ban? I don’t trust the club to properly manage the food/drink outlets after the fiasco of the FGR game when only 1 of the 3 outlets was selling drinks resulting in 20-30 minute queues.
