Did he jump ship?
Did we even offer him a contract?

Did he jump ship? Did we even offer him a contract? If he jumped ship then, we don't want him back. If he wasn't offered a contract then maybe that is on JB and he should be coughing up the £200k as he missed the opportunity. As much as I would like to blame JB, I think it's more probable that he jumped ship.

He was on loan to us, so I don’t really think you can call it “jumping ship” if he went back to his parent club at the end of the season?

But he was released by them and I'm sure we knew he would be released. So he was available on a free transfer. He either wanted to play for us or he didn't. We will never know, but my guess is that if we hadn't been relegated he would have stayed. Why is he interested in joining now. It's like a girlfriend/boyfriend dumping their partner for putting on a few kgs and then wanting them back when they have shed said kgs. It's a bit snakey...

Some people on here! He had a loan here. It ended. Chelsea looked to move on so he moved. We expected he'd be picked up in Championship and were slightly surprised the Dons pulled it off but fair play to both of them. Joey had nothing but good things to say about him. He will have an idea of his worth to Rovers team now and wont pay more as he feels he can do better with Wael's money elsewhere. if Wimbledon buckle, we may get him for closer to our valuation. If not, we move on. Lets not turn everything in to hero or villain

Someone posted a comment on here that sums up the LM perfectly which was he's been relegated with 2 teams consecutively in the past 2 seasons from league one and also made the comment that he isn't a player that would be above of what we have already so probably would be a bench warmer with the players already here. I'll be honest I loved him the season he was here but that's only because he was the only out field player that tried that season! Personally I wouldn't want anyone connected to that squad back here and with the way this is dragging on I hope he doesn't sign for us and hope Joey has moved on from him as a transfer target. As for the 200k transfer fee that is rumoured to be wanted for him that's a massive amount for a player with 2 relegations on his CV after such a small career as a pro. It's a massive NO from me.

Are you thinking of a pantomime? Were you at the game on Saturday? Yes. I said “everything” doesn’t have to be hero or villain. Of course some players, teams and managers need to reach one or the other. Just not everyone!

I’d have him in a heartbeat. Young, proven at this level and a good fit in terms of style.
He won’t be one of the top dogs here, he’ll have to work and I expect he’ll improve as let’s face it. That’s been missing from his career so far.
Good work ethic and willing to learn. Get him in

What difference does it make if he has 2 or O relegations on his CV if JB feels he's good enough for Rovers, it's not like our biggest worry seems to be avoiding relegation this season with the squad JB's putting together. Anyway it does sound like we're still leading the race for his signature: www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-luke-mccormick-bristol-rovers-7467900

I’ve always had a general rule of thumb with relegated players for a division: don’t sign them.
Sure there are exceptions to the rule, but more often than not there’s usually a reason.
That said, I do really trust Barton on his quality of signings. If Joey thinks he’s a fit and for the right price then let’s bring him in. If not, then move on.

Get him in If we’re prepared to pay 200k on him it should be for a player who’ll step straight into the first team and be a “Top dog” . Not a bench warmer for that sort of money ( which is wildly overpriced)

Interested for your thoughts on Luke Thomas who last season was largely a "bench warmer"

Interested for your thoughts on Luke Thomas who last season was largely a "bench warmer" It's an interesting one. I don't think LM would be a bench warmer, but at the same time, I can't see him dislodging Evans/Finley unless their forms really dips or pick up an injury and think he played about 47 games last season and he may not like not being the main man or waiting for his opportunity. I would still have him in our squad if the price was right.

I’m Not saying we shouldn’t sign him but I’m saying he’s overpriced at 200-250k . I think that sort of money could be spent more wisely. My thoughts on Thomas ? Good player on his day but flatters to deceive most of the time . Surprised he’s starting games at Barnsley .
