Billy is good enough to hold a starting place in the championship and May well have options there if he goes out on loan again… But, having spoken with some of the club last season Billy has a really strong relationship with Barton, really loved his time in Bristol and his family also came down regularly (I think they may have celebrated a family birthday in Bristol whilst he was here too)… he also loved the welcome and relationship he had with the fans and a big selling point is he wants to play… With all of this in mind, I do think we have a good chance of him joining on loan again as long as Newcastle sanction a move to League 1 rather than insisting on championship and he doesn’t stay with them as a fringe 1st teamer…. If he doesn't come back but liked Bristol that much and wants championship football would he go to............ wash your mouth out with soap

Hope he does well wherever he goes, but does seem a choice between warming the bench in the Championship or playing every week in League 1.

He may hold a place down in a championship team, who knows ? But a big jump from L2 to Championship and he is obviously going to face more competition for a place.

If ultimately Newcastle see him as being a part of their first team plans, which I believe they do, then I think they will certainly want him testing himself in the Championship this season. If that means he plays slightly less in terms of game time, I’m not sure they will be too bothered. It is a big step from League 2 to Championship but it’s also a big step from League 1 to Premier League by the same token and they need to find out just how good he is.

That’s excellent news for the young man , I hope this goes through for him , I’ll be keeping a close eye on him as I don’t think it’ll be long until he’s playing in the Newcastle 1st team.

Just a quick Google search shows that Millwall, WBA, Reading, Stoke and Coventry are all interested, a loan offer has been made by Sheff Wed and we’d obviously have him back in a heartbeat but let’s face it, it’s not going to happen!

It was an absolute masterstroke from Joey to bring him here.
Far,far too good to have been in League 2, and he'll be far too good for League 1.
He should at the very least be playing for a top Championship club.
He was here for 6 months, an absolute joy to watch, we should just be proud that we got to see him pull on a Rovers shirt for those 6 months, and reminisce with huge fondness when he becomes one of the greatest midfielders Englands ever produced in the next few years 🙂

Just a heads up if anyone is WFH or on lunch break etc. but Elliot is starting in Newcastle's pre season friendly in Austria against 1860 Munich and is available to watch on www.nufc.co.uk/nufc-tv/. Kick off is 1.30pm. It was originally meant to be on YouTube, but that got scrapped so I'm hoping it can cope with the demand, as there'll be plenty watching up here.

Just seen the link and managed to see five minutes before halftime. No doubt Billy will be off at the break.
