Steven Gerrard played wide Right for Liverpools youth teams and often in his first couple of years in Liverpools 1st team as well. Like I said he reminds me a lot of Steven Gerrard. Eddie Howe has been playing Elliot Anderson in Midfield in the pre season games. I think Elliot will be a Central Midfielder, very much in the mould of a Gerrard or Lampard. Could well develop there the more he matures and gains experience at that level. With his qualities he's capable of playing in multiple positions. I think Eddie Howe is the right coach for him as well. For me he's a superb coach. You just have to look at what he has done to Joelinton. An absolute flop of a striker, Newcastle fans were putting him up there with their worst ever players. Howe put him in Midfield now he's arguably one of the best Midfielders in the Premier League over the last 6 months and Newcastle fans adore him now. Won their Player Of The Year last season. Also taking Bournemouth from bottom of League 2 to the Premier League with the majority of the team actually signed from the lower leagues like Simon Francis, Steve Cook, Marc Pugh, Charlie Daniels and Callum Wilson etc By all the articles I've seen and the amount of minutes he got in pre season,Eddie Howe rates him very highly. I think we'll see a fair bit of Elliott in the Newcastle team this season.

2 games on the bench against sides you would probably consider the relegation candidates.
Still think Elliot may go out on loan.

Gives him the matchday preparation and atmosphere. Means he is not phased by it when he does get his first run out. He will get his chance. If he doesnt then a January loan is likely.

Yes, it’s an interesting dilemma for Elliot A, EH and Newcastle. On the one band EH has been absolutely true to his word in that he’s been part of the squad, they’ve looked at him, he’s been involved and with 9 subs named he has been able to put him on the bench. But I bet EH wants him to be developing so will consider a loan either during the last few days of August or in January. And if, and it’s a big if, we were still doing well in the top half of the League 1 table then EH would know that upper League 1 is a big step up from League 2 and another step in his development. And he knows we can be trusted with him. So possible. I don’t think it will happen but there is a scenario where it could be possible however unlikely. UTG!

Having been part of their preseason and matchday squads i cant see what he would gain returning to Rovers. Except minutes under his belt and confidence boost.
On loan he would better at a championship club where he will make the starting 11 most games. He would play at bigger venues with bigger crowds and tougher opposition.

Newcastle apparently signing Alexander Isak, this would be a great signing for them but would pushing Elliot further down the queue..

So if they go for Maddision as rumoured last week, Elliott might go out on loan. Always expected him to start tonight.

So if they go for Maddision as rumoured last week, Elliott might go out on loan. Always expected him to start tonight. He's an attacking player too, same as Elliot (/midfielder) . They could play Isak out wide or move Wilson etc. Either way he's less likely to get in the team.

Also see that Jon Nolan is starting for Tranmere I’m tuned in, my boss is a Newcastle fan and he’s had me raving about billy for months now so I’m buzzing for him to get his chance with them. Let’s see how he does, had a good game against tranmere last season for us and saved us a vital point there !

I’m watching Elliot too. Last minute loan might still happen.
