Just a general question on this - Ok, not a PC comment to make I know..but would this have happened under Trump's watch?
20 years of fighting and many lives lost, and Biden creates this mess.Im not saying the withdrawal is totally his fault, but the way we have just let these thugs take over Kabul is shocking.
Weak..pure Weak leadership.Never would have happened under Trump, but he was of course the man that was going to start WW3!!
But Biden was the man that let a bunch of thugs undo 20 years of hard work and loss of life and pussed out to bully's.

But the reaction towards this thing...Would Trump have let this happen? I understand it was Trump's withdrawal, but would he had just sat back and let these thugs undo 20 years of loss of life and fighting so easily..? Not a chance.

People knocked him for being to intense in these situations, which was BS - he was strong just look at North Korea. But at least he had the balls to confront them.Whats happened in Afghanistan in the past few days is a disgrace, nothing to do with Trump.

Obama let ISIS take over Syria and Biden let the Taliban take over Afghanistan. Don’t ever think that was by mistake.
How can anyone excuse themselves of responsibility just five weeks after confidently stating it wouldn’t happen? They can’t.
A lot of anti-Trumper’s are saying this looks bad and can’t defend Biden. This is worse than Saigon…arguably the worse, legacy defining international clusterfuck of its kind in US history.

Trump wouldn't have been able to do anything about it either, it all happened so quickly. The State Department thought Kabul could fall within 90 days as a worse case scenario, it's gone quicker than even the most pessimistic thought possible. He'd have reneged on his own deal which would have meant rather than the Taliban not targeting US and other coalition forces, it would have meant more Americans dying, something which prompted him to get the deal in the first place. To think Trump would or could have done any different is, I'm afraid, purely wishful thinking. Whether the Taliban would have acted so decisively, that's something which open to debate. Either way, same result.

To think Trump had the middle east under control. Regional peace agreements being signed.ISIS destroyed, Taliban and Al Qaida were on the run.No money was being made by the war machine that profits from endless wars.
But Biden is there man.👍

It'll be interesting to see whether the Taliban revert to it's previous style or whether they stick to the agreement. This piece by John Simpson is interesting: "Sharia law in its fiercest forms was in operation everywhere, with public executions, stonings and whippings commonplace. Gangs of vigilantes hung out on street corners, attacking men who showed their ankles or wore any form of Western clothing. Women only ventured out if they had written permission from men, and of course had to wear the all-encompassing burka. The Taliban minister of health, Mullah Balouch, complained to me that the International Red Cross refused his request to provide surgeons to cut off the hands and feet of convicted thieves, so he had to do the job personally; though he seemed to quite enjoy it. Working for television was a nightmare, because taking the image of any living creature was expressly forbidden on religious grounds. Bookshops were regularly ransacked for illustrations, and any guilty bookseller was whipped." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-58224559

If anything Trump was more intent on withdrawing US troops from overseas stations. Hence his plan to withdraw US troops from Germany and Belgium, a decision that’s been recently partially reversed. You’ve got to look at the political situation in America, heavy support for the US withdrawal in Afghanistan, especially among the Republican Party. Trump is/was a populist so go figure.

He didn't have it under control. Really?? Based on what.. Iran acting up early in 2020, seizing ships and so forth. Syrian Civil war which Russia stepped in to fill the power vacuum after the US declined to. IS seizing key cities in Iraq. No US president has ever managed to get the Middle East under control. Republican or Democrat.

No US president has ever managed to get the Middle East under control. Republican or Democrat. Precisely, add to that the ripping up of the Iran nuclear deal, pulling out of Syria leaving the Kurds, moving the American Embassy in Isreal to Jerusalem. The Israeli Palestinian peace deal involved no one other than Israel and the US.
