Three points, out of the relegation zone, aged about a year in the last ten minutes. Both teams played good stuff and some very poor stuff, i would have enjoyed being there for that one. utg

But he's not a cripple like the last one we sold to um That’s a tad harsh on a player who did extremely well for us. So is life, nothing against the guy but only my opinion 🤷♂️ Happy New year

Hard fought win but further evidence we need a striker. We need competition for Hanlan if the 4231 formation is the way to go for the rest of the season which I think it is but I’m not sure we need to replace him. 8 goals in 17 games is bloody good going I’d be surprised if we bring in better in the January window. I think he’ll get 20 + if he stays fit this season. Today his penalty was saved and then he missed a chance where it was easier to score but all forwards do that. I think he’s been very good for us this season. Agreed Socrates. Hanlan works his socks off and whilst he has missed (easy) chances he is getting the goals in, so on balance have to agree he has been a good signing. If anyone watches his two goals against Wimbledon in isolation, they would think he was a top class striker. The way he got his head round to meet the ball for his header was superb, and his second goal was excellent too. We do need someone to back him up, on his off days, or just to give him a breather, but for me, he certainly looks good in that lone striker role; better than he does in a two perhaps. Definitely room for improvement, especially in linking up with players around him. He has often displayed some excellent hold-up play, or battled past two or three defenders, but then fails to release an easy ball to a gas player, eventually losing possession. But this can improve, perhaps with more game-time with a strike partner he will see he does not have to do everything on his own. UTG!

He’s scored 8 goals this season and works his socks off hardly sh**e. Nice first goal, but missed a penalty, missed a sitter, didn't do anything else. Apart from holding up the ball on several occasions when he was the only Rovers player near the front line and several good passes to Nicholson and Westbrook. But yes, apart from that he didn't do anything other than score the first goal. He's a young player learning how to be more effective and gives his all in every game. What more do you want?

I thought Westbrook showed some absolute quality today. His close control and footwork was a joy to watch. On the flip side both full backs were utter garbage. When leahey failed to lump it forward at the end almost costing us the 3 points I could have exploded. Well done gas the most entertaining home league match I’ve seen in a quite a while. Yes, but on the first occasion he then did nothing with it. Really frustrated me, never tackles, always standing off even when he has an extra player backing him up, seems concerned that he might get hit when he has the ball, unlike Ozzie or McCormick who are equally positive forward players.

Phew, what a game could have easily been 2 down before we started playing, then could have been 4 or 5 up if we would have scored the penalty & took our chances. Those last 15 minutes were hard to enjoy as it looked like Blackpool would equalise, it times like that when you could do with a crowd in to get behind the lads & get them across the finishing line.

Hanlan is good, and could get even better. He works hard and as soon as the ball was played in for the first goal I knew he was going to score. Shame about the two misses. He falls over a bit too easily for my liking, trying to get free kicks, but the refs seem to be wise to it. Be good for him to have Daly back.
I thought Westbrook had a good game, always available and tried to look after the ball. McCormick is ace, it would be great if we could sign him.
I thought Leahy did ok today, apart from the moronic moment at the end and a couple of wayward crosses. He is way better than Tutonda. I like Ehmer but he isn’t quick enough for a full back I fear. Alfie did well.

But then the players get even more nervous and usually concede a goal! Apart from the shot blazed over the bar at the death Blackpool never really looked like they were going to score, not like the 3 chances we managed to miss in the second half.

Alfie did well. I can't see how anybody can say Westbrook had a good game when he was a virtual passenger for the last 15 or so minutes. Surely he could try and tackle/block the ball occasionally. As far as Leahy at the death, wasn't he just unlucky the ball rebounded back off him after it hit the Blackpool player. Regardless unless we sign our 5 LB in January he's the best of Tutonda (did he leave with BG!), Kelly & Kioki. RB is a bigger concern unless Little ever gets fully fit.

straight swap with stockley would be amazing Id take that. PNE, like Peterborough, seemed to be linked to any decent young player though I wouldn't. Alf is a young player on the up, Stockley isn't really champ. Standard so his value is dropping. I would want 3000k and Stockley with a sell on clause.

Pleased with the win. Could have made life easier by taking our chances but in turn they missed some good chance & JVS saved a couple, so in the end Nicholson’s goal worthy of winning the game. You expect a few missed chances in normal conditions but in this start stop season, where players are probably not firing as they should, we shouldn’t be too hard on Hanlon, he runs his socks off, and scored a tidy goal, although I think he is a bit predictable trying to run through 3 or 4 players all the time, I feel he needs to mix it up more. His pen miss just one of those things. The things that infuriate me is how easy it is to get crosses into our box, but on the plus side we look so much more comfortable defending them than we did earlier in the season. The other is Westbrook, I really want him to do well as it looks like there is a good player there, but he never seems ‘busy’ enough, apart from one or two moments today, he just seemed to jog his way through the game without having any real effect either defensively or in the attacking wise, in fact today I thought he seemed in no mans land a lot of the time. Still 3 points is 3 points, we would have lost that a couple of months ago, well done boys.

Re Westbrook. If Tisdale had thought he was having a poor game he would no doubt have subbed him. He didn’t do so. He is a good player at this level.
