It makes you wonder why at the age of 25 he hasn't played at a higher level. He certainly has been a class act since he signed. MLS can be a pretty decent level. istm it's usually compared to the Championship. And don't forget Scottish Premier League... Oh wait, fair point š¤

That was a good watch. FWIW: Iām not sure we played much better than weāve done recently but getting an early goal and another by the half hour mark made it a more enjoyable watch and was the big difference. It seems a back 4 suits the players, theyāve played far better as individuals in it and far better as a defensive unit. Our defence today put themselves on the line and defended ok but JVS had his best game and but for him we might have lost. No one thought weād be saying that at 3.00!! ZW played really well and was playing his passing game in the front third of the pitch which made a big difference. And his dead ball Delivery was good esp in the first half and had he kept it up in the second weād have won by more perhaps! But Iām glad heās playing, heās looking a far more committed player now than he did. Luke Mc C was very good. Heās always looking for that forward pass and he works well with ZW as well as he does with Oztumer. Great he got his first league goal. He gets better and better with each match. Upson and Grant are a good pairing in front of the back four and are a big reason for our improvement imo. Hanlan was a handful and kept their defence occupied and allowed the midfielders to have more time and space. Sam N is one of the most skilful players for is over the past 10 years. He was very good today and that piece of skill near the end was wonderful. I thought he was going to dummy a pass to Ayunga and then pass it into the net but he passed! We played with the intention of winning, we played on the front foot and our players now seem to be playing in positions and a system that suited them. But, I donāt like being too critical on a day when we won 3-0..... Alfie K although he played well needs to be aware of those through balls. Sometimes his positional play and his play going backwards isnāt as good as his play when going forwards. But it was great dead ball goal and will give him confidence, a solid 7/10 performance. Our passing is good but on 3/4 occasions we underhit a pass in the middle and we could have been punished for it. Do it elsewhere you get away with it, but do it in the middle and you can be vulnerable. We got away with it because Plymouthās forwards were pretty poor. They missed two 1on 1s in the first half when they should have scored and another two good chances in the second half. Well done Tis, well done the team. A served win to make a good Saturday night. Three of the players that often get the most criticism, were probably three of out best players today, JVS, Leahy and Upson. Nicholson was class and with him and Hanlan in the side we are going to always be in with a chance of getting goals even when under the cosh. Plymouth were a better team than Wimbledon but some of their defending and crossing was poor. Charlton game will be tougher and if i have one criticism of Rovers today it is that we give the ball away to much in the midfield inviting pressure on ourselves will need to improve on that against Charlton. Overall an entertaining game, with every game we seem to improve some part of our play, long may it continue. Yes, we did and werenāt really punished. Against a better team we would be. But I get the impression Tis is aware and we are gradually improving all aspects of our play. Letās hope so anyway. UTG!

What a difference having a manager that has a scooby about what heās doing makes. The commentary team of Hadwin and Brookman on Radio Bristol mentioned the difference between Garnerball and what weāre seeing now about 20 times today, such is the huge turnaround in whatās happening on the pitch! So all of us who took stick about Garner not being very good, were actually right! Yeah . . . funny that, isnāt it? I thought we were just mindlessly hating him or something . . .

First half quite end to end. I felt we deserved a lead at half time because we could have had a couple more with Upson hitting the post and Westbrooke hitting the keeper from close range. That said, Plymouth came close couple of time as well so it was never done and dusted.
Second half was a bit backs to the wall and it was a relief to get the third and kill the game off because had it gone 2-1 it would have got very nervy.
The stats are in Plymouth's favour so they might feel their second half showing warranted a share of the spoils but over the 90 minutes I think we did enough to deserve the win. 3-0 probably flattered us but even in the second half when we were on the back foot Hanlan fired wide when clean through and Ayunga missed a very presentable chance.
Our home record was becoming a bit of a monkey on our back so good to finally get our second league win at the Mem.

Charlton scored five today so will be a good test of our recent progress. They were 2-1 down at half time though and we just beat Wimbledon 4 2 ourselves, so hopefully it will be a good game.

Well its all much more enjoyable now isn't it! The players look far more tougher now which shows that we do have a good bunch of players. After Swindon everybody wanted wholesale changes in January (which would be almost impossible anyway) but we don't need that at all. The odd one or two players in but hopefully we have some decent players to come back from injury as well. Little, Davies, Rodman etc. A good bit of experience as well.
The only thing that would have been good to see is PT make a couple more subs when the third went in. I knw it was too tight to change too much before but it would have been a good confidence boost for someone like Barrett to get on, even if only for the last five minutes.
Charlton will be tough and a good measure to see how much we have improved under PT. Play like we did at Wimbledon (going forward at least) and we will have a good chance. Lets also not try not to get to worked up if we loose either.

If I had to pick one part of yesterday that was disappointing it was Ayunga. After watching the entire squad chase everything and everyone down with maximum effort for 90 mins, to see him hardly break into a trot for the little time he was on the pitch, was annoying. Still, great 3 points. Onwards and upwards.

Any comments from the Tisdale haters? He has transformed some talented individuals into a proper team in no time, managed by a proper manager. Do you mean doubters?

Still, great 3 points. Onwards and upwards. I don't share that opinion but then I might be biased because I do rate him. I don't think he is anywhere near as fast as Hanlon, McCormick or Nicholson so that may well show up compared to those. I also think like Jordi getting back into a side who are now fast moving and fast thinking it will take a while to adjust, get in gear and regain self confidence.

So all of us who took stick about Garner not being very good, were actually right! But there's only one person who can sack him all we can do has fans is support whoever is manager. Although why MS & TW with all their experience in the game couldn't see he was out of his depth and get Wael to dismiss him in the summer his one of Rovers mysteries. Wael's wasted nearly a year on project Garnerball. I can't recall those very words being used to describe him, but if you must come with the "I told you so" line then it might be wise to wait until we've moved a bit further up the table than that occupied by Garner's team when he was sacked for not "being very good".

I thought the best team won, but not by 3 goals and Plymouth were unlucky not to score. A tale of two halves.
As much as we (again) played some lovely passing and movement football, scored direct from set pieces (how long has that taken to say!?) and some individuals really shine, I can't help being a little worried about our defence and the amount of chances we present to opposition every match.
Appalling lack of marking and opponents seem to have time and space of a lifetime in our own pen area.
That said, Alfie headed as good as any centre forward I've seen for the Gas for the first.... McCormick (or as the commentator keeps slipping up on, McCormack?) dainty goal and all round brilliant display in first half for the second....and a counter attacking slick passing move for Westbrook side footed third. Not withstanding a Nicholson bar and Upson post hitting!
But, for me the m o m was JVS, especially as his last outing he let in a howler. Commanded his area well, made two good saves, came off his line at right time to put off shot and generally looked very competent.
Another great team display against decent competition as Plymouth certainly won't face relegation on this showing.
A note.... isn't it a mark of a good team that two stars that perform consistently well weren't missed yesterday? Jaak and Oz are no doubt good enough to get in most teams in this division, yet no one was mentioning them during the match as McCormick (new position which I thought he rose to admirably?) and JVS stepped up just as well.
Starting to gel when managed correctly?
A good win and now on for sterner tests...

Tis' open style makes it a good game to watch as a spectacle, far better for me than the 1-0 shut up shop managers, although we want to win and not concede which we did yesterday, but as much thanks to Plymouth as ourselves. So this makes Tuesday night a mouth watering experience to look forward to! Perhaps a repeat of the 5-5?
