Right you horrible Lot. Firstly I am not being pedantic and nothing against you GGMI, but a Match Day thread is exactly that, it should start on the day of the match. In addition I am on a hat-trick of home wins so if this was a penalty, I’m taking it.
That said, Mods if you think we should just have the one thread lock or delete this one, GGMI got there first.
So, on to the match itself. With all the euphoria over our recent results and new signings it is easy to get carried away, especially after just beating the team at the top. This has rings of Wycombe at home last year where we expected an easy win and found ourselves bought back down to earth with a bump. It’s seems like an open league at the moment with any team capable of winning on their day.
However, I think we will be well prepare for this and we will witness another strong and improved performance. So another very positive result is on the cards. I think the biggest issue is team selection but in my view BG has to keep with the same starting 11. It also means we will have a really strong bench with a few players who could really have an impact on the game if it’s not going our way.
Roll on 3pm, and apologises again GGMI. UTG

I would agree that the team should be unchanged at the start to keep the momentum going - though I might consider Nicholson if he has been doing well in training. In any case, we have 5 more matches in October so I would imagine that this is where there will be plenty of opportunities for the whole squad - for the first time in many years I feel we could rotate some players without losing quality. The playing system is pretty much established and players potentially coming in can slot into the roles. I worry about todays match as usually when everyone sounds confident we struggle to a spectacular 1-1 draw or something - but today, since we will have a strong bench, I think we have enough depth to make it 3 in a row

UTG I think GGMI is more used to having threads locked than you are and he’s not on a hat trick so I’m supporting this one. Hoping an unchanged team (if possible as Hanlan took one hell of a whack) secures the points before the Wizard of Oz comes on to ice the cake.

Bought some San Miguel last night in preparation for this one. On the box the motto says “Its not a quick beer”. Come four o clock the box of ten will be down to four or less! How will they explain that!?

It always worries me when everyone is so confident of a win. It usually comes back to bite us.

UTG Well done me old cocker. 👍 The way things are building I can see us giving someone a right dicking! We will have one of those days like Villa did against Liverpool, maybe not today but it’s coming. UTG! 7 - 1 anybody? 😁

I don’t want to be a pessimist but also not going to get ahead of myself after a couple or good results and what has certainly been a good transfer window. I’m going to go for a good performance but a 1-1 result.

Got a feeling we’ll be brought back down to earth a bit with a 1-1. I’d keep an unchanged side to start.

Important game today. I know the last two have felt important for different reasons, but this is the one where we can either be just another mid-table team where you don't know what you're getting week to week, or one when we can show that we might be able to put a string of wins together and play consistently.

For all the reasons above I can’t quite think it will be three wins on the trot. But I feel pretty confident and I’ve gone for 3-1. Burton worst defence in league so I hope we set up to take advantage but they’ve also scored more than us so we need to keep our shape and the back 3 play well, concentrate with no silly errors. I’d go with unchanged team after Lincoln. It also gives a message to those players, win and win well and you keep your place. I’m also going for the 6th uninterrupted, good reception ifollow match. (Which will now go wrong and I’ll miss the last two goals!) UTG!

I feel so much more optimistic after a really impressive performance last week vs Lincoln and a good week all round after beating Northampton and drawing with Oxford in the tinpot trophy. Oztumer looks a good signing on paper. There were a number of good performances last week and to come back from 1-0 down shows strength and resilience in the young squad that we have. We seem to have quite a big squad and competition for places is hopefully a good thing. I'm feeling really optimistic all of a sudden. 2-0 win tomorrow, UTG!!! Burton are struggling with a few players. Brayford and Bostwick out for Burton, both players have good pedigree so must be a positive I'd imagine. Also Lucas Akins is facing a late fitness test and hasnt trained this week "John Joe O'Toole has been wrapped up in Cotton wool for this one". Return of the Toole. www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2020/october/1510-injuries/

GGMI is a very sensitive young man so thankyou all for being kind.We lost there( near here) to two late goals last year but we played well.Their keeper pumped the air at the final whistle at our end so would be nice to gain revenge. Look at her Gender Symbol - always thought ‘he’ was female. Didn’t GGMI post a few weeks ago she gave up watching Rovers for a season to “have a baby”

Good on you Cocker, you have earned the right to this one, this is ,like many have said, the kind of game we have failed to turn up for over the last couple of seasons BUT this is a totally new squad with no history of such shortcomings so fingers crossed, anyway its a home game with Cocker in the chair so 2-0 it is!! up the Rovers!
