Quite. It's two games. Apparently we need to give ten before judging so let's not get too carried away. Like I said, pleased we've got some wins on the board. yeah and you were dishing it out after the first 3 so remember that the next time we lose a game or two. First 3 following 2 cup losses and 20 odd games where we were dire last season too. I’m hoping we’ve turned a corner on this all now.

What a great result and better away day performance, arguably our best away performance under BG. Notable performances (for me) of Daly, Tutonga, McCormick, Grant, Hanlan and Hare.. Lincoln tried playing the bully boy tactics of tough 3rd division football, mostly our response was to fall down (I'm not saying we were play acting)! We drew many free kicks from this.....Hanlan drawing fouls and at times having three opponents to take him on. He still stayed on his feet through it, so sometimes could only stop him via foul. A better high tempo match where we pressed more than they did. Loved the Tutonga showboating shimmy. I thought the better team won. Noticeable..... BG after match interview didn't mention a journey? Even though Lincoln (and Sunderland) are further than Ipswich? BG after match interview didn't mention ref decisions? Having seen the Lincoln penalty appeal in first half, I thought it looked a foul (or else why not book for a dive?). Ref gave us a penalty, but not them. Happy to be proved wrong as only seen it once.. I have to put these points in because it'll get lost in future matches where such excuses may re-emerge. To me it looked like the Lincoln player got in front of our player and stuck his ass out just enough for a bit of contact and fell like a dead duck on contact. The ref was wise to it Exactly how i seen it the Lincoln player initiated the contact looming for the penalty. Seen them given mind so glad the ref was strong and for me got most things spot on.

I've loved what I've seen of Tutonda so far and happy to admit I was wrong that he'd be a liability defensively when I first saw him in pre season. But let's not get too hasty. He made two huge errors today (the only errors he made all game to be fair). One nearly led to a goal and the other gave Lincoln a dangerous free kick in the last minute. Thankfully nothing came from them but I do think he'll make mistakes which will lead to goals this season. But he'll do way more good things than bad so it's not a criticism per se. I think the chat of him being a championship or prem player is way off the mark as I'm not sure defensively he'd stand up to it. I think we can make a decent assessment of whether he’s good enough for just this league or one or two Leagues higher once we’ve see him play for a lot more games. It’s still very early days.

Absolutely I would have but that doesn't make it a penalty, we've all screamed pen at a game berated the ref for an awful decision & then seen the highlights and realised he was probably right after all. Having said that today's was probably 50/50 and comes into the 'seen them given' category, possibly we got away with one there but I dont think that should mask that we were deserved winners

Not really heard his name mentioned but Harries was excellent again today, looks like he’s developing into a really solid defender. This kid’s gonna make us a ton of money some day.

But if you use refs decision one week that go against you, then ignore the one's that go for you, and present that as a credible reason for why we lost.......heavily v Doncaster, it's disingenuous. We won today because we deserved to, I totally agree with the post. When we lose its always ref, journey or some other fault. Not BG.

It’s not moaning it’s statistics, if we average 2 goals a game, 1 of which is a penalty, what happens when we get denied a blatant pen? Where is the second goal coming from? I’m happy to change my opinion if you can show me a league one side that got penalties in over 50% of their games in any season. I'd argue that the vast majority of blatant pens would get given. You've still got to be in a decent position to force a penalty. Just enjoy the win. We created chances today. One of them forced a penalty. We won. If you're gonna try and knit pick about winning penalties maybe it's better finding something else to do on a Saturday. I think my message is getting a bit misunderstood- I would have not said anything and like you say enjoyed a welcome surprise win from a game I had us down to lose, but I was prompted to give my opinion by the posters who were baiting the “naysayers” by giving it the old “where are you tonight then?!” stuff. So I just wanted to say that I am still here, not entirely convinced and mainly that’s because I’m not convinced the goals are in this team because we’ve had to rely on a lot of pens and we’ve all been watching football long enough to know that no-one goes through a whole season getting pens every game, we’ll probably find the pens will dry up for a while soon and we’ll need to put score our defence from open play. Have we got the finishers to be able to do that? I think that’s an entirely fair response to the people who are asking for a reaction. So from here we’ll have to wait and see whether I’ve actually got a point or whether we go on to find our 15 goal a season striker and score for fun on our own merits.

Remind me when the Thatchers End was packed with boisterous chanting as I stand there every week and it's a morgue most weeks as watching GCs football drained the life out of people. And yes I would shout for a penalty as would 99% of people but look back at it the ref has got it spot on just like he got ours spot on as that could have been given as a free kick on the edge. I don't understand your whinging of BGs interviews the majority of other managers are exactly the same they will find excuses for a loss and the majority will not blame themselves for getting team selection or tactics wrong.

It’ll be interesting statistically to see how the penalty count has gone with these games with no fans. Have the ‘bigger’ clubs got less pens at home games etc . Do crowds influence the refs ?

That's fine, you accept the post match comments of finding excuses for a loss, especially if it's in the majority. I don't. I think we as paying fans deserve better. Especially when we've invested time and money travelling and supporting the club. It's disingenuous and insulting of our intelligence as fans. I guess we are different. But I guess we're the same in the way we would shout penalty together (in real time, wherever the graveyard you stand).... which would then be subsequently followed by you don't know what you're doing.....by probably just us two! As the drip dry boring football rendered the crowd down to a minimum, because of GC. That took us to 4th.

You might never know if we will have a 15/20 goals a season striker or natural finisher as they keep being fouled before they have a chance to score.

I watch the game and have my own opinion sometimes it matches what the manager says sometimes it dosent. And if you seriously believe there is a boisterous atmosphere at the Mem then you are easily pleased. I'm pretty sure you are GC with nothing better to do as you wont have a negative word said about him 😉

Especially in the first few games. The last two games have been a massive improvement. Maybe Ben Garner is the coach we all hoped he would be - improving young and unpolished gems.

I have just read the Lincoln forums match thread. That guy that posts here (Marshys mate) is banging on about how bad the ref was and how one sided he was. I thought the ref was good today, their penalty claim was optimistic. He ran across Ehmer and threw himself down when the slightest of contact was felt. Correct decision not to give it. Our pen? Hanlon was swiped out! Lincoln claiming it was outside the box as there were marks on the ground. Yes those marks were from your defenders hand trailing behind him when he started his wreckless slide! Amazing how the game is viewed differently when you lose but come on those decisions were the right ones. We are getting a lot of penalties but I don’t think any of them have been unjust so far. Just admit you had an off day fellas. See you at the Mem .

I work with a massive knowledgable Swans fan and he was well impressed with Harries so I think this chap could well be a golden egg for us judging from his comments and his early performances.
