Overall, a good interview. However, I am extremely concerned about his comments on recruitment. With Nichols being told he can move on, we only have JCH & Reilly. Saying, "we're still active in identifying areas where we want to improve" is quite frankly not good enough IMO. On the 24th of January I expect us to have targets that we want to bring in, it's just a case of bringing the right one in for our play/wage etc. I think your analysing the comments too deeply Gassy. They will be actively working on targets they want to bring in without doubt. I hope you're right! With the striker situation we find ourselves in, I'm just paranoid about it tbh. I hate the phrase "it's got to be the right player" as I feel it's an excuse for not getting someone in, I think DC scarred me a bit by those comments tbh

Deon,Bernard,Victor and Tyler Smith all gone to free up some wages.Do hope we actually score before the end of the season as Tommy Nich and Reilly ain't exactly prolific and JCH doesn't look fit.Must be someone in the pipeline. Not too optimistic about tomorrow with not having recruited any strikers.

There is no point in just bringing in players who are no better or not of a required standard to just make up the numbers.

But I always get the feeling when managers tell us this, it's because we're being more reactive than proactive at that point. And I think you can tell this, Ben was more straight forward in previous interviews about targets, areas and people he wants to bring in. From this interview, it seems to me we don't seem to have the same determination or specific targets we want. As pirate said, maybe I'm reading too much into it - just a gut feeling.

I actually think Garners been proactive. We needed width, He's brought in 2 wingers. We needed creativity, Barrett by the looks of it could provide it. We needed a Goalkeeper because the Dutchman doesn't look quite good enough, and he's brought in one with pedigree who although hasn't played much lately has performed at this level before. He's also told Tom Nichols he's free to leave, and also let Smith and Victor go, that to me suggests at least 2 new strikers will be brought in. I previously voiced my opinion that Garner was out of his depth, but after his family circumstances am going to give him a clean slate starting from now. I thought it was a good pre match interview.

Also thought it was good, but I cannot see 2 strikers coming in, unless JCH goes.

Pal, with respect but it shouldnae take someone ta have a family health issue for you ta give them a chance.

I was always going to give him a chance. I just initially thought he was out of his depth. After his family circumstances, which would take its toll on anyone, I also feel that needs to be taken into consideration. So I'm happy to write off our recent form, and his managerial reign starts from now.

I think we'll get a 2-1 win, with at least one red card.
New manager bounce for a rejuvenated Ben.
