Come on, we all know what he means. It’s a results business. It’s perfectly morally acceptable to most rational minds to be able to separate compassion for personal circumstances with the needs of running a results driven operation. If a CEO’s wife falls ill should the company just grind to a halt out of respect? Rather than letting Garner be in charge of when the situation resolves the board should step in and take the weight off him by making an interim appointment til the end of the season. That has the added bonus of the players knowing where they fit in for the next 4 months and might coax a tune out of them on the pitch. I might be wrong but I don't think that would be morally or ethically right. I stand to be corrected but unless we make Garner redundant/sack him we can hire who we like to be manager, so long as he has got a job to come back to there isn’t a problem.

I think this comment may be the one that drives me off this forum for good. Why are people like this? Oy don’t you dare or you’ll be just like GC a gutless lady garden! Stick with it budd and suffer like the rest of us! 😁 Hahaha yeah, nobody leaves til we start winning! *locks door*

People have so quickly forgotten that GC left saying he 'couldn't see where he could take the club'. I never stopped looking down the table - he knew the only way was down too. Well not sure he made the right personal decision. Mansfields league results since he took over are DDLWLLL. Three games ago they were 9 points clear of relegation, now they are only 5

I don't see a problem. The Board has a duty to protect the business - BG is on what appears to be an open ended compassionate leave (and that is fine with the health of his family to worry about), so the Board should be able to say that we are bringing in x, y and/or z to cover whilst BG takes all the time he needs etc etc Yeah we already have that though, Maher. Albeit I don't think he is up to the job. ..but Maher isn't his own man it seems. Whether he could be if he wasn't trying to be, and carry out the wishes of, BG I don't know. IMHO we must bring someone in to take firm charge

It would be informative if we are told if BG has been relieved of all team preparation and selection, so he can focus on his family. Or he is still calling the shots over the phone. Someone needs to be made accountable, for the results.

But still calling the shots. Not the same is it, he's not even taking training. So how can he work on phases of play, how he wants the shape etc. JCH is our of form. We have not had anyone else who scores, for 2 seasons. He should have scored atleast 1 today. But what we've got is the worse of both worlds, we've got a new manager wanting to choose the formation/shape the play, meet new signings (Ginnelly said he met up with BG this week) but not turn up for training or matches.

The wheels have fallen off the promotion bus onto the relagation bus WHY because we’ve always been a relagation outfit I’m afraid. But I think will just be okay because only 3 go down.🙏 How come everyone has spent the past 5 months bigging up the recruitment of we’re just a relegation outfit? Do you go and watch us play like we do? Then you can see for yourself.

I’m sorry, but that is very odd - he is supposed to be on leave and you would think be with his family not meeting new signings. I’m confused at what this compassionate leave consists of because it sounds like he is still managing the club just not taking training sessions or turning up on match days.

We looked pretty decent against Peterborough, everyone was waxing lyrical on here about it afterwards too. We aren’t a brilliant team but playing to our strengths we should be better than the current run of form.

We defended better against Peterborough, but overall far from "pretty decent" and not everyone was "waxing lyrical". We were fortunate that they had 7 or 8 players out injured (similar to us recently) and forgot to bring their shooting boots. In general play they completely outplayed us IMHO.

He knew this team weren't promotion contenders and so did the fans until Garner took over.

Just seen the goals and terrible defending by leahy on all the goals. Never looks interested in blocking crosses but today it cost us big time. Poor defending everywhere really though.

Under GC we rode our luck and it had too run out,he’s gone he’s history and BG got to pick up the sh** and start again but unfortunately he’s got family problems which you can’t blame on anyone. The clubs in demise and will take a lot of lifting with the position we are in on the pitch and of it especially with the owners we got. Imo our only hope if new owners come in and are prepared to take a chance on us.

Sh1!heads would be foaming at the mouth and running on the pitch if their club had a manager who was effectively working from home during a run of defeats and a CEO who insults fan’s intelligence on the radio. We just amble on thinking it’s what we have to accept at Rovers because the alternative is probably worse!

As the old saying goes, goals change games. The sitter from JCH in the 3rd minute has to be seen to be believed. We simply cannot afford to let those guilt edge chances pass us by. But as mentioned above, it certainly was a total capitulation at the back just after half time. 90 seconds that ended the match there & then.

Who is going to pay 17 odd million to pay off the debts of a league one club that is currently being run like a pub team? It’s going to take a serious business plan and a serious set of balls to get involved in Rovers. This lot make Higgs seem quite competent because he only ran up a few million’s worth of debt and the club was still an attractive proposition with a stadium plan on the table. What have we got now? No chance of a stadium and nearly 4 times the debt!! And that’s progress, apparently!

We are a basket case at the moment, if we offered the job to coco the clown he would turn us down. Still mustn’t grumble UTG!

It was my first time seeing us in the flesh for a while and I thought we were solid and restricted free scoring Peterborough’s chances. It seemed what I would class as a GC type of performance but I do remember people were waxing lyrical on here because I saw people saying what an improvement it was on GC’s style because it shocked me that what I had just witnessed (whilst decent) was an improvement! By God, I’d kill to see us put in a performance like that now though!
