From that limited list of candidates, yes. Eustace, Evatt, Culverhouse and Johnnie Jackson weren't mentioned in the article. The article didn't state "Pick your ideal manager between Tim Flowers, Ben Garner, Michael Flynn and Ian Holloway" pirate, the article was people's preferred choice of manager from any manager. I just think it sounds like you're backtracking as you don't think Garner will be successful now, because I can't find any evidence of you saying you would've preferred those 4 managers over Garner (if there is, please enlighten me and I'll retract my assumption). Why are you scratching around looking for "evidence" you sad case. I didn't appoint him. I've already said at this point it looks a bad shout from me, what more do you want? Not sure how you can change your mind, he was unproven a year ago and is unproven now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though. Not having a pop, just interesting you were the only person to endorse the guy, 99% of has never heard of. I'm partly having doubts because of his flip flopping interviews about not changing things too soon and then the next week talking about changing the style. His tinkering with the shape game to game, throwing away a chance to earn money and a place at Wembley, signing a player and bringing him on in the 89th minute, a few shots on target in 6 games and not winning any of them will obviously cause a few doubts. Not facing up for the interview today, for whatever reason, only then adds fuekl to the fire. I really hope he turns it around soon for all of our sakes. To be fair to Pirate he didn't interview BG and then give him the job, f'k knows what chat Wael and co fell for!! The fact he's been looking for a job for 2 years and nobody else employed him seems to tell it's own story.

Boys against men again today.. When you look at the team there’s not many you can really want to keep to push forward Upson/leahy aren’t good enough Hardgreaves was awful today and not ready at all(probably a worst performance I’ve seen of gas player I’ve seen in years) Barrett looks good but over weight Rodman isn’t a right back Garner has been given a crap hand of cards and needs to let go of a lot of players realistically to be consistent. If he’s going to rebuild a good footballing team I’m happy to wait as the football at the mem has been shocking for a long time now hence the attendance being down even when we were 4th not having that about CH - not fair at all!

The truth clearly hurts CH as was totally out of his depth today, although what worrying we had nothing better on the bench, his replacement, THD, was clearly at fault for the first, killer, goal. Although what did BG expect playing a LB as right mid! www.skysports.com/football/bristol-r-vs-doncaster/410213

See this post: gaschat.co.uk/post/574042It always gets on my nerves when people make bad calls and then look back subjectively and rewrite history to pretend like they didn't ever have that opinion, but I suppose that is the nature of reactionary forums such as this one. I support Garner, but considering the second Garner's name got tossed into the mix you leapt into bed with the idea, and now you're acting like he was actually your fifth or sixth choice, it's just odd from you. And your rush to throw insults proves that that's the case.

Well that was grim I thought Gavin looked the part when he came on - I do not know if he will be allowed to play in the FA Cup. If fit THD needs to now start games in his proper position The new guy Josh kooks like he can play but may have a stamina problem All in all we were completely outclassed by a very good team On todays showing the future looks bleak

We all make mistakes but to turn against him so quickly is pretty shallow imho

The fact is I was the first one on the internet to mention Garner's name in connection the Rovers job and that was a year ago. I admit that. You can go and check your "evidence" and you'll find that is correct. Not quite as you put it "the second Garner's name got tossed into the mix you leapt into bed with the idea." I dont have to justify anything to you or anyone else for that matter, but for clarity and factual information my first choices this time around were Nathan Jones, John Eustace, Ian Evatt, Ian Culverhouse and Johnnie Jackson as I quite clearly pointed in this following post which you couldn't find on your evidence search... gaschat.co.uk/post/574042

I want him to succeed and hope with a bit of time and patience he will turn things around. Hard not to have doubts though.

We're missing Agogo massively imo Yes but it was obvious we were over achieving and had a lot of rub of the green first half of the season. Like I said we were 4th and attendance down we played sh** football and defended a lot with our keeper and back 5 keeping us in it. I agree with some not understanding why we played 1 up front but GC done the same before,

The reason I looked was because I could've sworn you wanted Garner but must have been your post from last year. Plus I didn't read the "From those names" on your post about the BristolLive candidates, apologies! Although I did find evidence that you preferred Garner to Johnnie Jackson. And I still think your U-Turn on this appointment has been quite, surprising to say the least.

Why do so many people on here seem insistent on hammering one of our most consistent and active forum members simply because he liked the idea of Garner? Legit being singled out as if he bloody interviewed and hired him himself. It's weird. Even so, why would his u-turn be a surprise? Have you watched us under Garner? We're an absolute sh*tshow. I was pro-BG when he got appointed and I'm u-turning... you can't not after the first six games. When you get fresh information, you're allowed to change your mind - he seemed promising on paper given his coaching background but we're a travesty so far.

Anyone know anything about when Ollie Clarke’s due back? I’m a bit worried that whenever there is an injury update his name doesn’t get mentioned. If he and Ogogo are both out for a while we desperately need to sign a defensive/tough tackling midfielder because otherwise we are just going to get dominated game after game in the middle of the park.

I do feel its the type of game we would have won with coughlan. Doncaster were powderpuff but pretty, they messed up by not being ahead at half time but we lost anyway. Barrett looked overweight and unfit which is inexcusable in january. I thought sercombe played well, driving forward with the ball.

Precisely, so BG signs an overweight attacking CM and a light weight winger! You couldn't make it up.

He said OC wasn't far off, he's running etc. But they don't want to rush him, incase he pulls it again. I recon he will be back on Tuesday or next weekend.
