Little bit of balance here
2 new players who the squad have never seen
2 forwards who would struggle to get in my worse players to don the shirt squad
2 midfielders in Upson/Sercs who are only good if they have an Ogogo in there as neither can tackle
Garner hoped his fringe players were good enough, he now knows they aren’t.
Hey ho.
Give the guy at least some time to mould his team. He was left with an awful lot of mediocre players to sort through!
And please don’t ever play Bennett again.

BG will have learnt a great deal from to nights 'practise match', he now knows Victor and Kyle will have to be moved on, Rollin needs a rest and Tom ,Alfie and Tonne are his back 3, we may have known that all along and he may have suspected it ,he can now make decisions based on first hand evidence, on we go to Saturday and 3 points !! oh and we need an Ogogo in midfield!

Both DC and GC realised you cant play tippy tappy football in L1 and get promoted. It cost DC his job and GC very quickly instilled a kick and rush game which suits the likes of Tony Craig and playing with little width. We dont have the skill set for penetrating possession football and Craig can no longer play in a pair at the back, he doesnt have the legs for it anymore, not at L1 level. Garner better quickly wake up to that notion and start with coaching them in the final third. Any defender and midfielder worth his salt can go forward and back 5 years without actually making any progress. Someone mentioned GCs football earlier in the thread and did I enjoy it. Not for 90 mins no. But I enjoyed the 15 mins of shots on target per game as well as the goal or 2 that used to go in, as well as the 3 points that went with it. Now we are back to tippy tappy looking good in possession but losing every frigging game and not even getting anything on target let alone scoring a goal. But shouldn't we be trying to progress the way we play?

Your comments are embarrassing and pathetic. The club gets enough negative sh** to deal with and doesn’t need this poison chucked about. How are they? Wake up you Ha very funny...i take you went to the game because it seems everything to you? Oh wait a minute you didn’t bother because it’s the efl cup. Short sighted fickle fans is a reason why the game is being ruined for demanding instant success is a disease. We were crap with a weak team fielded to get minutes under the belt for certain players. The sh** football GC played got results but it’s not sustainable and luck was running out. The bigger picture is brighter with him I believe and time will only tell

I take Upson is suspended for Saturday now then? Big blow... Not sure if a sending off in the EFL Trophy counts in the league. Exeter had a player sent off in the league and a 3 match ban but he was free to play in the next game in the EFL Trophy.

The single bright spark tonight, new lad Barrett. The likes of Bennett, Victor & Kelly continue to infuriate myself and those around me. Nowhere good enough & should join Tom N in looking for a club elsewhere. Kelly needs to go on loan and toughen up. Looked too lightweight tonight. Bennett is a very expensive L2 footballer and needs to go. Victor, well, hes lost his way due to JCH being favoured.

Well he’s ripped everything Coughlan built up and starting again which is very disappointing but personally I’m not surprised I said at the time I wasn’t keen on the appointment and it was pretty clear from his early interviews this was going to be the case, but that’s not to say he won’t be successful, if he is going to be successful then it’s going to take time to completely change the balance , formation and style of player at the club. Already it would appear many of you have had enough already. I thought all the fans were going to be happy and coming back now that we’re not playing direct ? We have to give him until the end of the season to see what he can do unless of course we’re heading for relegation in which case his position will obviously become untenable. Patience is needed but yeah it’s Dam frustrating.

Garner shouts of out are pathetic, who gives a sh** about this cup. This is a bad friendly performance. £40K for a win, £500K+ for reaching the final hardly makes it a friendly? Plus it's the same cr@p we've seen in every other game BG's looking totally out of his depth, whats is record so far LDLDL?? 5 games ago we were top of the current form. Coughlan's first 4 games this season were LDLW, and he'd been manager for 8 months and 7 of the starting XI players were players he'd signed. Give him time, it's clear we were papering over cracks, first team to lose to Bolton and got dominated by Southend

It's not like this squad clearly doesn't have issues, Coughlan's Banned word football just hid that. But genuinely, Ben Garner has been here for 16 days. Imagine wanting him out You just have to let them chuck their hypocritical dummy out of their prams

Perspective!
We're 5 games in, I said give him at least 10. A fair deal have been cup games of different sorts.
I was negative about his appointment, and so far I've seen what I expected has been. I wanted, and still do, to be so wrong about this appointment. So far it looks as if he thinks he's playing football manager. That sh** won't wash. This isn't premier league any more Ben.
However, he's saying the right things, he appears to be doing the right thing in the transfer market. Barrett looked very good tonight. Most of us would have moved on Tom Nichols (although we'd have been a bit quicker to move on players like Bennett).
It's also the Micky mouse cup, where we have done poorly previously under a manager many would consider to be up there with the all time best (if not!)
He deserves until the end of January until we stick the knife in on here.
He also deserves nothing but our support at the Memorial Stadium.
It does really frustrate me that he came out and said that he would treat each game just as important as any other, and we put out that sh** and our last substitution is THD. I rate Tomlinson, I rate THD, I've had a few beers so don't remember our first sub but don't bring on THD when we're one down against a team at the ass end of L2 in the EFL trophy at home, when Adeboyajo (send back, now!) is our lone striker.
What frustrates me is that we have a real chance for doing something this season. Expectations are raised, it's no excuse. He's clearly been given budget to go somewhere too so lets try getting somewhere.
And with Tom Nichols, yes he can't score for sh** but at least he plays good football and brings other players into the game and gets assists. What about the rest of our strikers apart from JCH?! Get better players in first.

To start with all of them was strange but not as strange as leaving JCH on the bench when we were needing to score.

After the first 2 or 3 games, a lot of Rovers fans on here were saying that this was always coming even with GC because we were tired. What's the excuse now? Dam hell I can't believe what I'm reading, fair enough if you said this after 17 or 18 games, but we've played five games! Coventry we could've easily won and today we played our second team in an awful cup. Get some perspective

So far under Garner we’ve looked exactly the same as we did under DC in his final half season. Garner has said he’s watched us loads, I think he needs to watch some games from the first half of last season too.

It's called an opinion. My inclination has ofter been right previously FWIW. Sadly I think it will be again. IT'S A FORUM. PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO AN OPINION FFS. We don't all have to be happy clappers basing everything entirely on blind faith or benefit of the doubt.

Get some perspectiveWe got completely outplayed by Coventry and were lucky to come away with a replay/ Today we played SOME 2nd string players. And we played absolutely awful. I mean we didn't just lose but I can't remember us having a meaningful shot? Not the first of the games under BG either. You can forgive defeats with good performances, but we haven't been close to a good one yet under BG, in fact they've pretty much all been our worst of the season. I'll give him time by all means, but he's made a bloody awful start. Trying to cover it up as anything other than that, is just that. Covering up.
