Possession doesn’t win games playing to your players strengths does and we clearly don’t have the players to play a patient passing game. That’s not a knee jerk reaction to today I’ve been saying all season when defending Coughlans style saying that he had found a way of getting a very average bunch of league 1 players playing above their natural standard. We did have games under Coughlan where for certain parts or the whole of the games we went a bit tippy tappy , Southend first half , Bromley whole game at home off the top of my head and it didn’t work then and it isn’t working now. At least all those fans that couldn’t stand a way of playing that got us to 3rd in the league will be back and happy now eh ? As for whoever came in nothing would be different we don’t know the answer to that but perhaps if we’d employed from within and kept the style until the end of the season we might have had a great chance of playing championship football next season. I’ll keep supporting Garner and I’ll keep supporting the team but I’m disappointed with the road we’ve gone down these last 2 weeks. How can you can possession doesn’t come into winning games? We literally can’t make 3 passes in a row!!!! Garner hasn’t changed much at all it’s just our weak squad feeling the toll of all these games and we haven’t got the back up of the rest of top 10 have in their squads, These results were always around the corner but because people are blinkered and clueless their just blaming garner which is ridiculous.. I knew this would happen and suddenly GC is now referred to as fergie instead of the p.e teacher they once labelled him and all the previous posts of shocking manager who’s tactically shocking have been forgotten about! I fear the worst for our club as it’s becoming toxic with morons that must want failure than success. The reason we’ve become top 6 this season is down to a lot of luck and our best players performing in the first half of the season and now run out of steam and no quality in the squad to finish the job.The season we went up from league 2 our bench options were so much better but this season I look at the bench and it’s obvious there’s no game changers on there and players that aren’t league standard yet or will never be. As long as fans understand we won’t be going up this season and just be happy we’re not in a relegation battle then just enjoy the ride 20 odd games of luck?! Come off it. The reason we were doing so well is because we played to our strengths and played with a lot of fight and commitment. Like him or loathe him, GC did seem to manage to get the best our of this group of players. I may be wrong but I can't remember ever getting hammered in a game like today? Yes, we sometimes played poorly but we were always competitive.

Because we've been totally outplayed for the last 2.5 games, two of which were v relegation candidates, Garner's now saying it wants to change the dynamics of the squad so that means a big upheavel, assuming Wael's even going to back him in the transfer market. Why does he want to change a winning team into a loosing team we have only gone downhill since he arrived, even with interim managers we were picking up good points He’s only “loosed” a couple of games so far.

The winning margin is a more important stat than the amount of possession you had. If you want us to be like Wycombe then that’s your issue as I certainly don’t, they’ve won games by cheating with the dark arts and hoof ball. We can hardly make enough passes to create a chance so that’s why we’re struggling. Hopefully this is a wake up call to the players and push on from there

Leicester has the lowest possession rates in the Premier league when they won it. We haven’t got enough players of quality in this squad capable of playing teams off the park the way Fleetwood and mk dons have to us in recent days. Hopefully having seen the players over a course of time in matches and on the training pitch Garner will be able to access that and make any changes to tactics and personnel that are needed. Not a good start but I’m not surprised and we have to give him time and so do the players. Most importantly the board have to back him in the window because to change this side we’ve got in to a quick slick passing side that’s good on the eye and gets good results is going to cost money and a near enough a complete overhaul of our squad and I can’t see Garner switching the style back to Coughlans way regardless of results. Having seen garners interview just now it feels like it’s time to tear it all up and start again , which we’re used to of course it’s just frustrating because I honestly feel if we’d kept things going the same we’d be looking at a play off spot at the least come May and it’s been a long time since we were in that position. We’ve still got a chance of doing that this season of course but it feels a lot less likely.

So if you don't blame the new manager for this fact who should we blame? "However, it is blatant that offensively we have lost our way somewhat. There doesn't seem to be much clear thinking when moving the ball forward and it's a problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible before not scoring becomes a monkey on the back." Like I said in the unquoted bit, address blame to Mansfield. I don't think it's reasonable to lay blame at the door of someone's office who hasn't even worn in a bum groove into their manager's chair yet.

Can any of us honestly see the ALQ's backing BG to rebuild the squad in January if they are hoping to sell up? I wonder if BG even knows what budget he's got to work with?

Absolutely dire first half. You can’t play a slow patient build up game if your formation is 8-0-2 for Christ’s sake. I thought when Garner was signed that these players would have trouble adapting to a slow passing style and so far unfortunately I’ve been right. We need to play ten yards further up the pitch and one of our midfield three need to be behind the front two to have any chance of it working. Altnough i still don’t think we’ve got enough quality in our team to pass it about like that. We need to go back to what we were doing that got us to 3rd at least until Garner gets whatever players he wants in and out and then perhaps he can implement his tactics better. Agree with lots of this. Our style of play needs changing IMO, as Coughlanball can only take a side so far, but whilst I am 100% behind Garner, I am concerned he is trying to change too much, too soon. I'd prefer he tinkered the style over a couple of windows.

Tiredness is a factor at the moment. Far from the whole picture of course but we seem to have a strong first 10 minutes from kick off and then fade. This would point to tiredness. However, it is blatant that offensively we have lost our way somewhat. There doesn't seem to be much clear thinking when moving the ball forward and it's a problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible before not scoring becomes a monkey on the back. Having said that, I'm at a loss to understand anyone taking shots at a manager who has been with the team for 9 days!! Any blame sent to a manager should be addressed to Mansfield. How can a manager who is his own man be expected to both preach the methods of the previous (successful) regime and impose his own ideas on the players? As painful as it might be when there is a chance of the highest finish for a long time, is it not quite easy to return to the expectations almost everyone of us had just 3 months ago?! The fickleness is baffling. The most noticeable thing to me was the way MK relentlessly worked our left defensive flank. Leahy was all over the place and they created a number of chances in the first half. The whole team looked tired and off the pace. MK didn't seem to have any such problem, and it's not surprising really. The whole game was played in a training match atmosphere. There was certainly no pressure on them from their fans. It was really like being in a library, I've never known a home league crowd be so quiet. I went to the bogs during the first half but there was no atmosphere in there either. There doesn't seem to be any belief that they are a league club, I wonder how many years more before it has the proper feel of an established club worthy of league status. A lovely stadium, but it all seemed a little too contrived, plastic and false to me.

I’d love us to go out and sign a handful of genuinely top league 1 players with great technical ability and an eye for a killer pass , some pace and see us play lovely football and spend the rest of the season in the top six doing it. We’ll see.......

What amazed me today was the inability of any of our midfield to shield the ball, spot the runner and turn it round the corner. Every single time we had body between ball and opponent the runner was not spotted and the ball went back to defence. MK had willing runners all game and more importantly had the ability to find them. No wonder JCH spent the whole game waving his hands around.

Good, because I've never met him but you have to keep doing whatever it was he wanted."

To get gradual change from Coughlanball to (what I think we're all imagining is) a much prettier way of playing, the very difficult trick is to judge how quickly to implement that change. In many ways it would be easier for him to go balls to the wall and try to change everything overnight.

Through inexperience garner has deflated the team. He has telegraphed that he wants a completely different style which quite a few of our players cannot implement. We were a brutal but effective long ball team 4th in the league so why on earth change it? But as soon as he brings in the six high quality ball players as well as adding lots of pace in january we will be fine. Maybe?

Got done far too easily with a long ball over the top yesterday. Some very poor defending. The keeper should have also done better with the first two goals.

Very disappointing day out. Compare and contrast with the Ipswich away game with basically the same team. Hey ho that's football. UTG - fantastic away support btw

Without doubt it would have to be the Black Hole of Calcutta that masqueraded as the mens' conveniences at the back of the away end at Shrewsburys Gay Meadow ground. Now that was a crapper of architectural eminence. The sort of place that Bolders likes to hang around on dark winter nights.

The chances missed against us this season have been ridiculous. I have never seen so many missed chances by the opposition. Im not even including the worldies from our keeper either.

I think after 4 years of pure luck with dc and a full year of luck with GC our luck was bound to run out. Thing is if garner gets us in the play-offs after a bad start we all know it will simply be very lucky.
