Out of interest how is that being financed Paul ? Combination of shareholder investment (ie their owners, who for example also fully funded their £4.2 million loss last year) and some bank loans - it's not entirely clear on the split but suggestions are 60/40 to 75/25 from their owners.

Watching the rugby World Cup quarter final from Marseille, what an impressive stadium that is. Whether you were of Rovers or City persuasion and regardless of funding etc. imagine being on a train coming into Temple Meads and seeing a stadium of similar size and a stylish individual design such as that looming up on one side of you. You’d know you were immediately coming into Bristol as it would without doubt become an iconic view unique to the city…and something to be proud of.

I think its my favourite stadium in the world. When all lit up at night it's fantastic.

Our fruit market video was loads better than that. 1-0 gas. Maybe, but Oxford have a 75% better chance of actually building what’s in their video.

You mean just like Swindon's great new stadium by the M4? I remember the outcry a few seasons back when that one was announced and Rovers had no sign of any development. A fancy video and good intentions don't always mean something is a cast-iron certainty!

On the flip side Wimbledon and Brentford have managed to build stadiums in recent years.
I'm struggling to see what the Al Saaed's bring to the table if we're not now proceeding with the FM or a full scale redevelopment of the Mem.

Strange no-one from the club has not made comment on the rumors about the fruit market ?

Strange no-one from the club has not made comment on the rumors about the fruit market ? Club statements and appearances from spokespersons are considered carefully and occasionally occur well after a fact is known. If it’s a rumour they aren’t going to bother.

When you look at their ownership, board of directors and how they are getting their house in order on and off the field they have a much better chance than us building the FM.

Is the former Filton Airfield site still an option for a new stadium?

Honestly, I don’t believe there is any real appetite for a new stadium anymore and even less so now the new ownership has taken over a majority.
The Kuwaitis have been deathly quiet on all fronts, the club itself has been even less communicative than it has been previously, there seems to be no movement at council/conygar level and there are more rumours around a set of piecemeal stands at the Mem than anything else.
I’d just love us to have an open and structured plan for the club that’s communicated from our new owners and is achievable for our means.
Not some pipedream £110m or so building project which is dependant on other people.

With the access problem at the Memorial Stadium, enlarging the capacity would be very awkward.

I struggle to see what the incentive is with not pursuing a new stadium, unless they can make a Mem rebuild viable.

Is the former Filton Airfield site still an option for a new stadium? Don't think so, the land is allocated for housing so would probably be costly to purchase a site within the area. Personally I'd be in favour but that ship has probably sailed now.

With the access problem at the Memorial Stadium, enlarging the capacity would be very awkward. Our last rebuild plan was for c19k, we'd probably get that again and in reality, it would be enough for our needs.

I've heard it's quite disorganized at Oxford and if you ever go on a match day, you will see them waiting to get in as they can't access the stadium until 12pm! That's just one of there many problems, according the the person I spoke to.
