Announcement expected imminently from Dwane Sports to say they are purchasing a valuable tract of land at St Phillips, Bristol on which they will build a new 20 000 capacity multi-sports stadium. The development will also include a hotel, offices, restaurants, cinema complex and associated parking.
The project is said to be financed through the support of the Bahrain Arab International Bank (BAIB) and the Kuwait Asia Bank.

I'd be happily prepared to eat sh** if they pull this one off but after everything my faith in their ability to do so is staggeringly low.

No, this cant be right. All the special people keep saying that WAQ isn't doing anything behind the scenes. Be fair, I bet you didn’t believe it any more than we did. I’ll happily eat my hat if they get it built. Can’t be any more honest than that.

That site ticks all the right boxes for me. Good road access, the potential for a train station at the stadium and just about the right side of the river too. Excellent!

How are they financing it? The mind boggles on that one but fair enough.
Can they really build it in two years?! That’s a hell of a schedule to aim for.

Matches the information I heard a month ago. Has been discussion with the council for many months and involves significant outside investment. Does this mean DS will no longer be in complete control going forward?

Stadiums usually take 18-24 months, depending on the size obviously. 2 years a stretch but 3 would be realistic

I’m gonna honour my ( very) long standing promise and purchase my first season ticket for the new stadium. Can’t make all home games but if the club our gonna fulfill my life’s long ambition to see the Gas play in a purpose built stadium after 40 odd yrs of watching , it’s the least I can do . Fingers crossed Gasheads

When I see the plans printed on the back pages of the evening post then I will believe more so that there is commitment to this happening.

Decent location for anyone in Bristol I think. Not so much for those of us who don’t. Parking will be minimal and getting there a nightmare. Not great at the Mem so I arrive early to ensure I can park at the civil service car park.
