Would you take a swap ? Matty Taylor for JCH ? No. At JCHs strike rate last season, if he can do that again this season, brings much more to the team than Taylor did. I’d have him back to play alongside JCH in a heartbeat though.

The Gas were linked with the 20-year-old defender over the weekend, with even UCD manager Collie O'Neill claiming the player was on his way to Rovers. Yet, whilst Coughlan admits there is interest, Rovers are yet to submit an official bid for Scales, who has already turned down a move to Manchester City under-23s in favour of first-team football. Coughlan said: "There seems to be more talk in Ireland than anywhere else. "Liam Scales is a very good player, I'll tell it how it is because there's been some inaccurate reports. "He's a player we've looked at, he's a player I like and I'd like to bring to the football club, being able to do that might be different. "We've not actually gone anywhere near some of the reports, we're not that far advanced. "He's one of many, but Liam Scales is someone I've looked at, I do an interest in and quite like. "If we want to take that to take that to the next stage, will we? I'm not quite sure if we will or not. "Contrary to reports, if we had a bid and it was accepted, and Liam Scales was soon to be a Bristol Rovers player, he wouldn't have played last Friday or on Monday. "That would suggest we're not as close as reports and we haven't gone as far down the line as reports would tell us. "He is a player I like, he is a player I think would fit the profile - he's young, hungry, enthusiastic and a left-footed centre-half that offers a bit of pace and a bit of height, so he's a player that would fit our profile. "He's a player that I like but we haven't gone as far as newspaper reports, particularly in Ireland, have suggested."

Not very respectful of coughlan to the irish club to discuss their player openly in public. Not very respectful by their manager to openly disclose a so called bid or negotiation in the first place.

Not very respectful of coughlan to the irish club to discuss their player openly in public. Are you joking?? Their manager had already discussed it. He was replying to what he said.

Hardly disrespectful on Coghlan's side, simply trying to put the record straight when it appears that the Irish manager is talking a bit too much!
"Graham Coughlan says reports in Ireland linking Bristol Rovers with a move for UCD defender Liam Scales have jumped the gun.

He made it clear he ain't coming to us yet, but was careful to say the lad was decent and he liked him.

Perhaps the lad hasn't decided yet, then perhaps Cogs is thinking "Do I spend money on him or do I spend more on a forward?" (Forwards are greedy bastards)
