I hope not,i really dislike that system myself. I reckon GC is a back four man but maybe not? Its a system that only works if you have the wing backs to make it work and we have a few players in Little/Hare/Leahy that could do a good job in the role. On paper possibly we could play that system. I always feel the centre-backs are vulnerable to being pulled out of position by diagonal runs and end up out wide and vulnerable. I also think the system asks too much of the wing backs although little played as a wing back in city's promotion season. I prefer a back four myself but who knows?

If one centre back gets pulled out wide, there should still be the other 2 in the middle. It can work, if they all know what they are doing.

I agree any system can work or fail so its fair to say i just don't like the wing back system. We did play it several times under dc in the league 2 promotion season with leadbitter and brown.

I think we will see Kilgour and Rollin go out on loan and possibly CraIg leave before the window shuts. With Kelly and THD injured we are down to 5 regulars so Scales is still a possible signing IMO. Why bring in Scales and send Kilgour out on loan. Is Scales at this stage of his development a better player than Kilgour - I'm still struggling to understand the reasoning behind signing Scales. I would much rather see Kilgour being given the opportunity to develop his career at the club - receiving professional coaching and being part of the match day squad. As a previous poster said and I agree with - this could be Kilgours' break through season. Personally I'm not convinced about Meyanese and maybe his future is elsewhere - maybe on loan but possibly even a permanent move. if it was permanent and something was possibly happening then I could understand the reasoning behind bringing Scales in.

Isn't Scales a left footer, if so, he's surely being seen as TC's replacement, with Kilgour alongside him?

You can't cover up the lack of creativity and goalscoers with playing more defenders if you want success- that was our main problem last season. Its like mending a puncture- there comes a time where you need a new tyre!! We need some ENTERTAINMENT not the essential crap of last season!

Steve you are old enough, I expect, to remember the Greece side that won the Euro's? Not trying to be clever really, but a good defence does give additional scope. I prefer rampaging wingers and 4-3 thrillers, but don't want to be the ones conceding the 4..

I'm almost old enough to remember the USA side that beat us 1-0! Yes I get your point but defenders won't get people through the door. We need entertainment as well especially after last season which whilst results after GC took over were pretty decent- the football was far,far from good to the eye.

As has been regularly stated on here, defenders and defensively minded players seem easier for us to acquire than attackers and creators...so it makes sense to adopt a system that employs at least five of them! They're cheaper than midfielders and strikers. well good ones anyway

No idea ... it’s become a bit of a saga now. I hope we sign that bloke Trialist - he scores goals all over Scotland...sometimes in two places at once!
