Of course it is. Home attendances dropped roughly 90%, clubs are losing more money (than winning prize money) as a result & neither are the best performing btw, 3rd & 4th. If Accrington & Yeovil made the final, does that change the success of the tournament? No. They're just lucky big teams happened to make the final I'd be interested in seeing your figures in the drop in attendances on the previous format. Not saying you're wrong just don't remember the previous tournament being that well supported. The two teams in the final are two of the best performing sides in the competition without a doubt. No lucky stories there. All the bleating about the good old days wontvmake Blackpool, Bolton or Coventry viable clubs. The future is the mega rich state owned clubs like Man City, B, Under 23 and under 18's. Sad but the has moved on. I've posted this before mate, but I guess you didn't see it. Here's a snippet of a conversation I had with the EFL proving my point. Let me know if you're interested in the full discussion and I'll PM it to you. Whilst very nice that you have raised competition money, firstly, you have raised the prize money that suit what the EFL wants. Why didn't you raise the prize money for keeping it the same format? I have asked this before, but it was ignored. Now let's look at how this new system really benefits clubs, shall we? To do this, we need to look at a game where it was the same teams playing each other. Luckily enough I managed to find one for you!:
Old Format: 7th October 2014. Portsmouth Vs Northampton. Attendance 5,853. New Format: 2nd December 2017. Portsmouth Vs Northampton. Attendance 1,780. Difference in fans = 4,073 less. Portsmouth won the game in 2017 meaning the receive £10,000GBP. However, in the old format, if Portsmouth charged just £5 per fan on the difference of attendance (4,073x 5) they would have received £20,365. So not only have you annoyed the fans, you have actually lost Portsmouth money. Never mind if they actually charged people £10 attendance which is probably more likely, which would have been £40,760. So a £30,760 loss for Portsmouth. But the EFL will sing praises how this is better for Portsmouth now to play against 5 players above the age of 21 from the Chelsea squad.

Sad but the world has moved on. I don't think Manchester City are state owned mate. They're owned by the ruling family of the UAE.

We’ve done ok don’t get me wrong but they are so much better than us it’s almost laughable! makes me wonder why it always look like were playing against 12 men.

We lack quality, back to lumping it up to their CBs. I think when we went 2 down, our heads went down because we didnt deserve to be at that point. Sunderland just have more class despite our best efforts.

So a self proclaimed non-professional GK expects a GK to catch every shot. Ok then. did i say he has to catch every shot? if your gunna parry it then you parry it away, not on to the strikers foot. you allowed up this late on a school night? You implied but ok. Keep up with the insults fella, it's toxic people like you on forums that ruin relationships among gasheads

It must be me but I can't see the 90 % drop in attendance there Jesus Christ, I actually searched 5 minutes for the email because I thought you were being genuine. Would you sleep better if I said 60%? Either way, clubs lose more money in this format than the old. You're welcome, WUM.

Sunderland players and fans celebrating like they've just won The World Cup.
As I've said previously they clearly don't give a sh** and weren't embarrassed in the slightest about having had to play Newcastle U21's in a competitive fixture.
Glad we're out.
The powers that be have got the final they wanted and the Sunderland/Pompey brown nosing can continue.

I thought we played well tonight. Sunderland far better in the final third but give us 35m at the start of the season and a 4m striker and we would probably be better quality as well. The referee got the result he wanted
