Sadly this was game where certain players didn't turn up in contrast to the Portsmouth game where as someone said you could almost give every player a mark of 7. Not going to bother with comments as the scores say it all.

Bonham: 6. Hardly had anything to do.

J Clarke: 6. Kept battling and gave a reasonable performance against a player of obvious quality in McGeady.
Lockyer: 7. Good, solid performance. Is playing well at the moment.
Craig: 7. Mixes bag from Big Tone today. Poor error that contributed towards their opener yet won every single ball in the air.
THD: 8 (MoM). Better when pushed further forward in the second half.

Rodman: 6. Some good moments.
Ogogo: 5. Is he any better than what we already have? I didn't see his Southend performance where he got rave reviews bit since then he's been ok. No more than that though.
Clarke: 5. Not his best game and it's a poor partnership with Ogogo. That said, bringing Upson on for him seemed a wasted substitution at 2 down.
Sercombe: 3. At fault for second goal. Contributed nothing positive. Said it before, if this was his first season, we'd be saying he was an awful signing.

Reilly: 5. Some good moments in first 20 minutes but faded fast.
Clarke-Harris: 7.5. Good, hard working performance. Like all our strikers, he does have qualities, but it's still not clear whether putting the ball in the net is one of them.

Jakubiak: 6. Should have started and yet another inexplicable decision that he didn't. JCH's most natural partner.
Upson: 5. Did little but then he's a defensive midfielder brought on at 0-2 to change the game. Again, inexplicable.
Nichols: NOLE.

Ref: 7. Reasonably good, which makes him brilliant in comparison to the clowns we've seen this season.
GC: Needs to start playing some creative players and getting us to pass the ball. When we do, we're not a bad side. Trouble is, we don't and we are.
Sunderland: 8. Good side with brilliant support. Outclassed us today.

Bonham, not the player he was in the first half of season but still better than most. 7

J. Clarke he will often attract top marks for effort, but he is simply not good enough, poor going forward and poor defensively against anyone with pace or skill. 5


Lockyer has hit decent form, defensively he continues to be excellent. Today not quite at his best but still solid with some good touches 7.5

Craig solid again, yes he lacks pace but rarely is caught out. Good in the air today. CBs are not our problem area. 7

Holmes-Dennis our best player, skill and composure,in defence and attack. beat his man when going forward defensively sound 8

Rodman poor game today offered little going forward, in attack 6

Ogogo harried and covered a lot of ground but we needed more composure in midfield. 6

O. Clarke poor poor game, ball distribution shocking, won few tackles, offered nothing going forward and needs to sit out a game or two 5

Sercombe not a good day for sercs,he needed to deliver more quality from set pieces which were poor and over hit. General play nothing to write home about. 5

Reilly not good enough muscled out of the game, didn't even close down the opposition well, had a shot which was more of a back pass. Should be on the bench for rest of season. 4

Clarke-Harris strong in the air, and got stuck in, but looks slow and a little overweight. His touch is heavy. Against two tall skinny centre halfs I expected more 6

Bonham 5 Nothing much to do, no chance with free kick, distribution at times poor.

J. Clarke 6 Usual reliable performance.
Lockyer 6 Steady and defended well, if only he could pass to someone in blue and white a lot more.
Craig 5.5 Unnecessary corner led to first goal, distribution poor. Defensive wise ok most of the time.
Holmes-Dennis 6.5 Very good at times our only quality player

Rodman 4 Poor game, made no or little impression
Ogogo 5 Reasonable game, got stuck in

Sercombe 4 Stupid handball for their second goal. Not a good game and overall did not contribute much

Reilly 3 In fairness no quality service, but to lightweight to make any impression against a mediocre defence.
Clarke-Harris 6.5 Good game, but spent to much time out wide. Ran out of steam.

GC 3 Picking Reilly and Jakubiak over Nichols is bewildering. Honeymoon well and truly over, and beginning to lose faith with him and now looking like the cheap option, not his fault the rubbish he inherited but tactics are.

J. Clarke 7 nice physical game.
Lockyer 7.5 m o m class at keeping their forwards quiet.
Craig 7 apart from mistake that led to first goal, assured.
Holmes-Dennis 6.5 worked hard but was done in second half alot.

Rodman 5 missed a header and largely anonymous.
Ogogo 6.5 best of mid.
O. Clarke 4.5 no no no.
Sercombe 4.5 even more no's. We don't know why though.

Reilly 5 worked hard, no end product. Remind you of anyone?
Clarke-Harris 7 won everything, big physical presence.
