f**king ell, arriving on this thread an hour after getting a point at the third placed team (where we always lose), you'd have thought that some people reckoned we lost 5-0. Another away point or win. In our situation all you can really do is keep on picking up points and hope other results go ok. On Saturday they did, and tonight they did. In fact quite often teams around us are losing... So everytime we pick up a point, or three, we are doing decent. Meanwhile Oxford lost AGAIN, gills lost and dale lost. Yes we need more points, but the evidence since mid December is very good. And I suspect we can all agree that agogo & JCH are good signings. Finally... Whilst I agree the general unwritten rule seems to be not to take 2 pens in a match, 1- that is actually a counter intuitive 'rule' if you score the first, and 2- he did actually score. Flippin Eck, you would have thought he missed both. BTW, I saw Bolton Vs Norwich on Saturday. Staggeringly brilliant Norwich display. Won 4-0 and could have genuinely been 7 or 8. They missed a pen. The 6th pen they've missed out of their last 7. They are top of the lge but I guess they all should be sacked. What Pompey fans thought - we certainly made them look ordinary. They're not happy. fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=758282What a privileged bunch! Want to sack Jackett despite being up there. They've clearly not learned anything about being humble from almost being relegated out of the league..

Certainly showing some great resilience away from home under G.C. Still to concede first in an away game - outstanding First time we have failed to hold on to a 1 goal lead at h/t - Played 3rd in the league though,so a draw was still a very good result 11 points from 18 in total from 6 away games - play-off form
Just got to sort the home form now! Well done to all the boys tonight and did JCH not win both penalties? Just sayin,if he did.

I'm telling you now, we will stay up, at least partially as a result of our goal difference. It gives us a big advantage over our fellow strugglers while points are so close down there. So I think we will stay up due mainly to one man. Step forward Tony Craig. I'm not kidding.

Just got back from Fratton Park
Heard on the radio the Gas will be fined for allowing a football to enter French airspace without permission
But Wael can afford it

James Clarke won the second pen, which I personally thought was a stone waller. First pen won by JCH looked soft to me.

I would have taken a point before, especially at a ground we always loose at and often ship three or more goals. Of course we all end up being a little disappointing when we had the chance to win.
I am not so sure about those who say the same player should not take two penalties. Of course if we had someone like Lambert then he would take every one. Our other recent penalty takers were on the bench. JCH had already scored one and has experience at taking penalties. How many other players on the pitch at the time had taken a penalty in a match before? Probably hardly any of them! I like to think GC has an order of takers based on who he thinks is the best. If Nichols had come off the bench maybe he would have taken the second penalty?

Is possible we could have scored that penalty and lost 3-2. Its a decent point, on to Saturday now where we will need to put in another similar performance if we are to get anything from it.

hope so - don't want Lee Brown going up - get revenge at Mem next season Lee did not have a good game. His distribution was poor and he missed a good chance to score I really don't get what happened there, it's like he forgot to shoot!

I’m a bit surprised by some of the negativity on here, that was a fantastic point and teams around us dropped points too. I said before the game 2 points against Pompey & Sunderland would be fantastic and we are half way there. All I wanted was for us to be above the dreaded line after Sunderland and do you know what I think we will be! We can kick on from here and I’m confident we will stay up UTG!

What a game of football last night. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was good and you can see that we can play football if we play against a team that wants to do the same. Sometimes though we lacked the ability to counter when there was a chance to do so, it was like we were hesitant to do so for fear of losing possession or being hit back on the counter.
Shame JCH did his best Chris Waddle impression for the second penalty. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and even though he put away his first effort, I think I would have gotten another player to take it, just for the psychology of it. But if he had missed we would have said we should’ve stuck with JCH. Fine lines.
I think Portsmouth are starting to get big club syndrome again like Leeds did a few years back. There are some decent teams now in this league and it will be Championship 2 very soon as other clubs catch up with facilities and stadiums. L1 isn’t the walk through it used to be for some clubs.
On the back of that performance last night I would say that they would struggle in the championship, or perhaps we could compete..? 🤔🙈
Either way I’m now looking forward to Saturday and seeing how we perforn against the Mackems

Perhaps management maybe a bit to blame for allowing Harris to take the second penalty. Never the less if you look at the statistics from the game Rovers thoroughly deserved at least a point but were the better team and deserved to win.

you really haven’t a clue have you. Thousands watching live along with millions watching on TV. Plus it’s the World Cup. No doubt you’d have sent the keeper the wrong way and stroked in just inside the post. Like I say, clueless. It was still a disgraceful penalty. Just because I haven't taken a penalty in a World Cup Semi Final doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. I take it just because I haven't played for Manchester United I can't call Roy Keanes tackle on Alf-Inge Håland a disgrace? I've never been a Jihadi, I take it I'm not allowed to think Shamima Bugum is an utter disgrace either? That's not how it works. so Rory missing a putt is a disgrace or Ronnie missing a blue of its spot. Your choice of words is so over the top and plain wrong.

I thought it was an excellent performance and deserved 3 points. Lockyer was outstanding and JCH caused all sorts of problems, onto a big game on Saturday. UTG

But would GC ever plan for us getting two pens in one match, that's probably once in a decade occurrence, plus if TN had taken the first last night and scored would we even think about another player taking the second one?
