I notice David Goldblatt popped up in the Observer: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/mar/18/football-politics-commerce-reflects-our-societyHe raises some interesting issues. However, the last Paragraph has a phrase: "in the freezing cold, a reliably disappointing Bristol Rovers" Where has he been for the last 3 seasons? Yes Rovers have done everything the hard way since I first saw them in the mid fifties, but two promotions and a League One 10th place can't be disappointing! Even at the lowest point, Braintree away anyone? we still supported the team and it made promotion all the more sweet. He goes on to say: "Bristol Rovers, now the plaything of Jordanian carpetbaggers". If our steady progress - created by Darrell - continues and we establish as a Championship side with a reasonable stadium, we shall be back where we were in the fifties, probably after I arrive at the great Pirate ship in the sky, but at least the club will not be in the Plasticship! Then the "Jordanian carpetbaggers" can sell at a profit or bask in the glory and we will have our club back where it belongs.
