I am with you, a few seats added here and there is not a big step forward for me. The old saying, you cant polish a turd. Had some great times at our turd. But on the flip side we’ve been in the sh** a few times!

One angle on this is that the installation of the 'electrics' and the production of the cards won't come cheap. If they utilize the existing turnstiles that possibly tells us a little about any ideas (I'll avoid the word 'plans')they may have about the development, or not, of certain parts of the ground. I put this to Tom Gorringe several weeks ago. He said that the turnstiles, software and processes can be moved quite easily. He also said that his job is to make sure the club maximizes revenue and that something like these Turnstiles and doing up and revamping areas of the Mem will pay off within one year. He also said that some things that improve the match day experience is also money well spent even if it doesn't directly bring money in. Whatever happens we are here for at least 3 seasons so spending some money now makes sense.

Electric turnstiles, whatever next.
How can the club possibly fund this? Is it yet something else mortgaged against the Mem?
HOWS THE BUDGET DARRELL ??

Are we getting "electric" turnstiles or just card readers installed at the present manual turnstiles? If it's the latter than I doubt the expense is any greater than the contactless card readers we've recently had installed at the pasty huts. Although if you think the ALQ's are paying for them out of their own bank accounts then you are a bit deluded.

It could be said that the Al Qadis were dealing with someone elses flawed stadium for the first part of their ownership. So it is only from when the UWE stadium project was scrapped that the new time frame for a stadium began. So since August ? Were Brentfords owners also planning and purchasing and building a training ground at the same time though ?
A stadium should be at least in the construction stage by 2023. With a finished (first phase) training complex also.
The ALQs changed the original plans for the UWE by putting a hotel and conference venue on the site, hence the then extra feasibility studies and resubmission of some plans etc. So it wasn’t mess, the original plans were changed. Then they pulled out. The training facility isn’t our number one priority either. The original plans had a hotel and some small units between the stadium and the railway line. They were online for all to see but nobody really paid attention to that they seemed overawed by the stadium bit.

I don't think the stadium was flawed, I think the designs that we were shown & the location were fantastic. However, it appears to me that the Al Qadi's could not get the return for the investors & subsequently the deal wouldn't have been any good long term for the club - apparently. I say apparently because no one knows, outside UWE & the Owners. The deal both old & new boards would have wanted would have been different as the old board were going to get £30m upfront for the Mem. So whether or not there was a written contract in place, that would have to be renegotiated with the new owners. It's anyone's guess as to whether the old board could have delivered even with Sainsbury's money. SH said, very early into his tenure, that to make the stadium work there needed to be compromise from both sides, this tells me that the new owners had done their homework beforehand & knew challenges ahead & in the end it seems we wanted something that UWE weren't prepared to give us. Why it took 18 months, if the UWE were dicking us about from the start, I just don't know - like everyone else on here. Higgs made lots of errors during his time, but I don't think he can be faulted on his efforts to get us playing in a better stadium IMO The location was pretty good for sure. To be honest whilst I except the UWE Stadium was the best Rovers would have ever had ,I did think it was a VERY boring design. Definitely shopping at Lidl not Waitrose.

Seems like the plans were on the third rail, electric and it would do some of our fans good to go and stand on that rail. No names mentioned but quite a few should do it.

I assume they were the "two strips of land" Wael spoke about early on following the takeover, but prior to his arrival it was little point in us get excited about them as NH & co clearly couldn't afford to build another other than the stadium and they were never part of our stadium plans. Although I can't if it showed an hotel of just office type buildings.

I can't be bothered to read all of this. I've heard they were going to put a cover over the home section next to the North Stand, but that's it...However, I thought they couldn't do that due to obstructing the view of the Dri Build, can anyone confirm that? Geoff Dunford told me that when we first moved in. He also said that the Mem was going to be our temporary home

They are spunking all our money away as fast as they can against the mem, we go bust and find out Wael is related to Lansdown on BBC “who do you think you are!” i am of course joking, I await the Bristol arena and New stadium project at Filton with Chinese investment 😄😄😄to be announced. Now I am in the corridors of power I am doing a “q and a” from our new gas office in Mauritius!

Probably completely unrelated and I don't think it is binding on the mayor either but maybe indicative of their thoughts, I see yesterday Bristol City Council have voted in favour of keeping the existing arena site and not going to Filton.
Final decision in May.

Umm The runway at Filton isn’t in Bristol though it’s in South Glos so BCC would have no input. The Brabazon hanger however is in Bristol although not sure how a conversion could take place here as I know one of the companies that has moved in is on a twenty year lease. Obviously there maybe clauses in the contract which allow BAE to serve them notice. Also YTL the Malaysian company which owns Wessex Water has set up a base in Concorde House by the old Bristol cars factory. They are using this as a sales office for all the premises they intend to build and sell on in the near future. One of the directors of YTL is basing himself there to personally oversee this. So the Chinese money people talk of could be Malaysian, relevance to Rovers? No relevance probably but something is going on up there for sure.

Umm Except the infrastructure that they are currently building? Temple Meads will have a capacity in the near future - along with a faster route to and from South Wales. Granted, there needs to be some more infrastructure in place - a South Bristol Park and Ride would be a winner all day long and will help relieve the A37 that is at breaking point.... Oh, and I'm fekked off with everything being build in North Bristol.....
