Horse in the 2.40 Fontwell with this name. Any gas connection? (other than the obvious). I never bet because of names but for anyone interested he is 66/1.

When I used to have the odd bet on the horse racing yrs ago , many times I’d put my money on any horse that was linked to rovers in some tenuous way. Blue and white Quarters on the jockey or a name like Keep on gassing... etc Lost everytime ! It’s a mugs game

Just had a horrible fall and stayed down, didn’t look very good. Hope she’s alright.

Well that's a post I wish I never read! It's a brutal business horse racing , when I was younger my parents owned horses so I was hugely into anything horse related. I was also interested in horse racing , so my dad got me a Saturday job working for pat and Louise Murphy racing stables over in failand. Long story short , I used to exercise some of their race horses and I became particularly fond of one of them called 'gentleman sid' , beautiful great big horse he was , anyway he developed a recurring abscess on the centre of his back , which meant he wasn't racing as much and costing the owners money , he was unfortunately put down at a very young age. Unfortunately that is the nature of the business.

Yes, she was rundown on the Portbury 100 near the footbridge. The Murphys up sticks not long after and relocated towards London.

As this thread is now about the ethics of horse racing and no longer vaguely rovers related it's being moved to general sports area
Thanks gg
