Fair play to them. Took over a historic club on its knees struggling in non-league and took them all the way to League One, increasing attendances from 4,000+ to 10,000+ along the way. The local area looks like its buzzing. I enjoyed watching the program and I'm happy for the loyal fans. The real test will be when they don't have success or anything new for a season or two. Will they get bored?? Will people get bored if watching the show, if it's similar every season etc. So far they have loaned money to the club, or secured finance for projects. Next season will be a big sign of what is to come. Will they up their investment?? I think it was the Peterborough chairman who said they were all talk when it came to JCH. They said they were interested, but when he said they would sell him, they went quite. I suppose that's better than pulling out at the last minute though 😂 He wanted 5 figures a week to drop into league 2. They were right to go quiet.

I surprised we are that low. Went to Cheltenham and had a lovely day out. 3 points and out singing the home fans. More teams have done that at the Mem than not this season.

Published 7 hours ago Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney say their long-term ambition is to increase the club’s stadium capacity to as much as 55,000. A new 5,500 all-seater stand is already planned at the Racecourse Ground as a replacement for the Kop end, which has been unused since 2007. I would be happy with 25,000 UTG Have they really got a fan base to fill such a stadium when Wreham's population is only 135K? www.theguardian.com/football/2024/may/01/wrexham-racecourse-ground-rob-mcelhenney-ryan-reynolds#:~:text=Wrexham's%20owners%2C%20Rob%20McElhenney%20and,with%20up%20to%2055%2C000%20seats. That's in the whole county borough, Wrexham itself has 45,000. That said, the fan base is a lot bigger than that, both sides of the (very) close border. 55,000 though? Ludicrous, that would be like Hoffenheim building a 35,000 seater stadium, oh wait....

That they were all talk. That might have been after speaking to him without their permission though.

Ha ha they are getting a bit above their station, this reminds me of Darlington the Reynolds arena, that turned out well! 😤 All fine until the playboy yanks get bored & feck off, another white elephant in the making.

Why are the government paying for it? It's complicated and not all quite in the public domain yet. Basically a lot of the land around the stadium is publicly owned and is a key part of the city. So the local council, the Welsh Government, University, the football club, Transport for Wales and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) applied to the UK government's levelling up fund for cash to regenerate that whole area - including upgrading the train station, new office space, upgraded civic spaces, increased connectivity for rail and bus users as well as a new hotel, conference facilities and club office space planned along with a new Kop stand for the football club. They got a grant for the first lot (mostly benefiting the public) but were rejected for the second lot (mostly benefiting the private sector) so decided to reallocate some of the money from the former to the latter. They say each £1 invested in this scheme will result in £3 of public benefit, as well as creating 700+ new jobs. To be fair to Reynolds, McElhenney and the club, the overall plan and the first part of the investment was all agreed before the Hollywood millionaires bought them, however the closed-session council meeting that re-allocated the funding to prioritize the football stand over public amenities was well after they could see how to make themselves popular with the new owners...

The Peterborough owner seems to have a lot to say publicly about other clubs, what their budgets are etc - I wonder how much of it is bullsh*t.
